Most of my life I've spend in Central Europe. That means daily existence in more than fifty shades of gray. Gray is dominant in seasonal scale here, beside few moments that we can enjoy more vibrant colors. Toned down, color wise, environment influenced me for sure and maybe provided me with some sense seeing and feeling chromatic scale. Beside that with years I find gray quite ok, actually. Endless numbers of tones calms me down, opens some hidden truths about world around and myself.

I'm truly interested in painting about painting. Exploring, questioning, iconoclastic (graffiti). Painting as an image coming out of paint, in the process of applying which, I seek beauty (as the sum of goodness, truth, and aesthetics). This is completely sufficient for me, more than enough. I am far from actionism, discourses, and all sorts of culturally related games. Being an artist, a painter, is a sufficiently large and profound challenge every day.

After twenty-five years of painting on walls, it turns out I'm actually a landscape painter. This was rather difficult to grasp when I was passionate about graffiti teenager. Now, out in nature, equipped with oil pastels, bare feet, and the absolute pleasure of contemplating light and color, I feel the ease of capturing it all in the form of plein air études. The more I think about autumn, the more similarities I see to middle age. It's a more peaceful time than the unruly spring and lush summer, but it has its glimmers of both. It's not winter yet, because flowers can still bloom, even from under fallen leaves. Autumn is a time of harvest, of what was planted and cultivated earlier. It becomes increasingly clear what one wants and where one is truly heading, because the weather no longer always favors wandering. Appreciation, gratitude, and the perception of even the smallest glimmers of sunshine amidst cloudy days. Autumn brings us in a peculiar melancholy, a longing for something unnameable, and therein lies its beauty.

Between 2015 and 2018, I experienced my second graffiti youth. Back then my hunger for painting led me to create hundreds of walls and dozens of trains. Simultaneously, I conducted research on the aesthetics and history of urban art, which resulted in lectures given at festivals, art academies, and cultural institutions. This entire intense period of self-expression required a certain summation, and all this energy needed a specific sublimation. This is how I came to extract certain painterly values from my practical and theoretical experiments with graffiti. There are some conclusions and reflections here, but mainly questions posed as a philosopher on an 'urban safari' would come up with.

Manhood is like a tree. Healthy, solid one. Provides with food, gives shelter, secures, evokes respect and has his specific charm. It creates an entire environment around itself in which life flourishes. Manhood feels good when grows slowly but surely, strengthened by time and experience. Flexible and resistant to superficial impulses and compulsive thinking. Can be rough at times, but underneath keeps depth and warmth. Silent, cautious, effective. Brings peace and long term confidence. That is the manhood which doesn't grow by itself, nobody can give it or take back, is born of patient cultivation and discipline.

I rarely post anything from current projects, as this isn't the place for it. But this wallpainting project is a special occasion in a special place for me:

/ COUSIN'S LAND / 2025 Lutsk city Ukraine

Graffiti is essentially a conquest of the space, and usually it is a designation of places in the city or on trains. The signature indicates the presence of the artist, and sometimes even ownership of the place. Thinking about this, I began to think about the space of Lutsk city, Volyn region and my relationship with it. I was not born there, it is not my homeland. Although over the years of traveling here, studying the language and culture, I feel like at home in Volyn. It is more like a cousin land, a land of people close to me by free choice. At first it was common interest (graffiti), and later it grew into many years of friendship and artistic projects. The implementation of the project in the 4/8 gallery is my gesture of gratitude for all this. I could easily draw the entrance tower of the Lutsk Castle, taken from a 200-hryvnia banknote, because Volyn was the beginning of my long and bright adventure with Ukraine. But the truth is that too much has happened along the way to reduce it to one symbol. So I invite the audience to relive this story with me, traveling through planes of color and lines that will help ignite the imagination. Perhaps this will allow new residents of the region to see their history reflected in mine, as a process of mastering life here. I would like those who have left to see that their city is still alive and continues to maintain friendly relations built over the years.

Sometimes I think that aesthetics, as a field of philosophy, is yellow. It fulfills us, saturates us, brings brilliance to our lives. Ethics is red. Like a bloodshed in daily actions, circulating and fueling our hearts. Logic is more azure. Clarity of thought, space, and broad horizons connecting the heavenly with the earthly. Long story short, I think that painting is born from paint, which is an instrument for the constant search and discovery of beauty, goodness, and truth. Because even between the paint and the wall there is room for philosophy.

One of the most interesting discoveries about daily life, for me personally, is the understanding that everything is a matter of convention. Even the foundation of the calendar, such as a week: once it had eight days – in the times of the ancient Etruscans and Romans. Only in 321 AD did Emperor Constantine the Great officially introduce a seven-day week in the Roman Empire and also establish Sunday as a public holiday. This regulation later spread throughout Europe and then to the rest of the world. Considering this, I immediately see the meme in which the tired subject in the photograph says that everything would be fine if only he had one day off between each working day, to simply rest. Or, going further and combining the two concepts of convention and vacation, do you know how many days off the average peasant in a medieval European village had? Two hundred days off! Because they only worked when they sowed and harvested. That's why I always laugh when I hear that some new technology, product, or service will change the world for the better. Progress tends to cut days off, so it's even more important to remember that everything is a matter of convention and it's better to just get along well, rather than count on salvation through a new computer.

I was 22 when I first went to Białowieza Forest at a conscious age. I was born and raised nearby, but for a long time I did not understand the phenomenon of this place. I remember that moment like it was today. It was summer in full swing, hella hot, and already in the car on the way you could feel some other coldness in the air. When we arrived at the spot I carefully looked at the forest wall for a moment, I had never seen anything like that before. It was a real wall: dark above, dark below, all the trees were huge. It made me anxious, but I got out of the car and approached the edge of the forest. I stopped and felt the cool, moist breath of something very old and strong. Adrenaline hit my head and my knees buckled slightly. But after a while I saw berries, a small stream and a fallen tree with dry branches next to it. Everything you need to survive was within reach, food, water, safety and incredible peace. I share this story with you 15 years later, because the holidays are the perfect time to wish you to find your hideout this summer. A place far from everyday worries, hustle and bustle. Full of what is really matters.

There is a lot of studies about it, books, lectures, essays. All related mostly to politics and economy, but there is also another kind of term like that, I believe: personal dimension rather. In my own practice this attitude reveals itself best in the consequences after actions. Brings specific calm, easy satisfaction, without any euphoria or mixed feelings. Simply accepting things as they are in relation to actions which led to them. Just logic consequence of what I did. Results of applying it come easy and same way I let them go. Its silent power of daily routines, integrity and consequent work, filled with passion and discipline. Things done when nobody is watching.

It's mid March noon, I sit in park cafeteria, sun is shining straight towards me. Table set up is complete: espresso doppio, notebook, pen. A sip of water before taste of coffee will make my tongue bitter-sweet.

Out of all seasons that one is mine, and I belong to it because I was born during that part of the year. Time when snow melts, flowers bloom, birds come back from vacations in the warm countries. Now it's not like that weather wise, flora and fauna calendar shifted but some part of me returns as if from Africa, long time not seen.

One of a sudden Claude Debussy plays his "Printemps" on and things start to happen. Some get twisted, some clear out, some new appear. One thing is sure: I'm back on track. The season came and is in me and around me.
