I loved digging into the mind of the great editor and filmmaker Walter Murch in his new book, Suddenly Something Clicked. Get your hands on this murchandise. by @bldg17

High Fireman

I directed this bit for @jimmykimmellive and it’s one of my absolute favorites. It was also my first ‘viral’ video.

Enjoy responsibly.

As a field director for @jimmykimmellive I directed hundreds of short comedy bits that aired during Jimmy’s monologues and often featured members of Jimmy‘s actual staff, including his security guards, Guillermo, Uncle Frank, and Veatrice.

Veatrice was one of my favorite people to work with because she was full of attitude. Together we shot a bunch of cooking-show parodies called “Simply Delicious” for use as evergreen bits whenever the show needed a short segment to fill out the monologue.

This segment is one of my favorites, as it happened to be totally unexpected. Veatrice was supposed to do a gag about making peanut butter, but she ran into some challenges and couldn’t get the bag of peanuts open. We almost didn’t use this take, but after seeing it in the editing room, it made us laugh so hard that we sent it down to rehearsal as-is. Jimmy laughed at it too, and it wound up in the show.
