i was doing a few repairs on my pants yesterday and thought it was probably time to really document where i’m at after 4 years of putting these things through hell. these pants are where it all started. they started falling apart and i loved them too much not to do anything about it. so i learned how to fix them. what started out as very crude, uninformed, shoddy bullshit turned into sashiko and embroidery and darning and etc. then i started fixing my friends pants both as a means to put what i’ve learned on my own pants to the test but to also practice my skills so i can do the most meaningful and lasting repairs to my most beloved pair of jeans ever. that’s why if you’ve gotten your pants sewn back up by me, you probably know that i dont usually like to charge much, if at all. i was talking to a friend yesterday and he asked me ‘do you think you’ll ever have to retire the pants?’ and without any hesitation i responded ‘i don’t think i can at this point.’ hours later, i ran into another friend while at my studio and as we’re looking at the pants, i tell him about the question i was asked earlier on - if i’ll ever retire these pants. he looked at me and said ‘i don’t think you can at this point.’ here’s to another beautiful year in the same fucked up nasty frankensteined pants. <3 by @bleak.fortune
