It’s nearly been a year since I started my preceptorship programme🥹 .. time really flies! Here’s a dump of all my fav moments 📸.

Posting this because I know it’s graduation season rn & there are so many newly qualified midwives who will be starting their preceptorship soon 🙊💕.. #PROUD

The past year has been challenging.. chileee I thought 3rd year was hard but this year definitely tops it alll loool😂. I wish someone told me to not stress as much as I did in 3rd year because the pressure is really worser during your preceptorship year !

Here’s some advice for all newly qualified midwives starting this year:

1. Ask questions. If you’re unsure, before you carry out the skill or provide the care .. clarify first if you have any doubts. Senior midwives and the team will always be around to help.

2. Just do it. Everything is gonna be scary, being in that room alone for the first time is gonna be hard , having to answer all the questions is gonna be hard & not being 100% confident is expected! - just know after you do it , every time gets easier.

3. Switch off from work. Once you leave a shift , forget everything, all the mistakes , everything you could have done or wish you did better. Keep up the habit of reflective practice & work on providing better care on the next shift. It’s a journey so be patient with yourself

4. Doctors are human!! - interacting with obstetricians will be uncomfortable at first but they don’t bite looooool! Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for support if needed.

This week I had the chance to attend a careers fair at Harris Academy Ockenden.

Loved interacting with all the students and meeting many who want to become healthcare professionals in the future.

I’m definitely NOT missing the 12 hour shifts rn LOL!

My student midwife journey comes to an end today🥹

I won’t lie and say it’s been easy, it’s actually always been challenging throughout the 3 years but I’m just so proud that through everything I stuck to it alongside everything else I’m passionate about.

I’m excited for this new chapter, a lot of it is going to involve helping all of you that want to become midwives too❤️.
