Pixy Liao’s 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘔𝘦𝘵 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘺 series (2022) is now on view at Tokyo Jazz Club, running through 8 Nov 2026! 🎷 Pixy‘s longstanding interest in film and science fiction comes to the fore in this series of cinematic tableaux. It follows Space Girl, played by Pixy, with her iconic cropped bob, who set out to eradicate toxic masculinity from the universe, only to fall for her gentle human subject, played by Moro. The protagonists inhabit a futuristic, yellow-tinted interior that is at once clinical and inviting, where the reflections of the sunlight flood the room with a warm glow punctuated by the recurring lines of the curtains. In 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘔𝘦𝘵 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘺 4814 (2022), Pixy wears a metallic costume while holding a laser gun, her gaze meeting ours. She sits on a platform directly above her Earth Boy, who curls on the floor in a fetal positn. - Pixy Liao, 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘔𝘦𝘵 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘺 4814, 2022, Archival inkjet print, wooden frame, 51 x 39 x 5 cm - 𝑻𝒐𝒌𝒚𝒐 𝑱𝒂𝒛𝒛 𝑪𝒍𝒖𝒃 2026 📅 Public days: until 8 Nov 2026 📍 3-11-15 Kanda-Nishikicho, Chiyoda-ku, 101-0054 Tokyo, Japan (formerly 9h Nine Hours Otemachi, close to Jimbocho Station) - #TokyoJazzClub #PixyLiao #SpaceGirlMetEarthBoy by @blindspotgallery
Chen Wei‘s ongoing 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 series (2025–) is now on view at Tokyo Jazz Club, opening to the public today and running through 8 Nov 2026! 🎷 In this series, scrolling slogans and texts, as commonly found in commercial LED signs, are dilapidated into pixels of neon green, white, blue, pink, yellow and red. They flicker endlessly across the screens in cascading constellations, evoking digital systems, Malevich abstractions, and natural phenomena, from the fading and flaring of stars to the rhythm of breathing, or the fall of raindrops. Although glitchy and fragmented, the pixels spark in a meditative, syncopated pulse, continually emerging briefly before dissolving into darkness. In this way, the works resemble the malfunctioning signs that are a ubiquitous feature of urban landscapes, illuminating a dystopian, cyberpunk vision of contemporary society, projecting a certain visual chaos. 🌃 - Chen Wei, 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 #260902, 2026, LED display module, stainless steel, 32.5 x 16.5 x 10 cm - 𝑻𝒐𝒌𝒚𝒐 𝑱𝒂𝒛𝒛 𝑪𝒍𝒖𝒃 2026 📅 Public days: 1-8 Nov 2026 📍 3-11-15 Kanda-Nishikicho, Chiyoda-ku, 101-0054 Tokyo, Japan (formerly 9h Nine Hours Otemachi, close to Jimbocho Station) - #TokyoJazzClub #ChenWei #TroubleCity by @blindspotgallery

Aiko Tezuka’s works are now on view in “𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔”. Her practice centers on unravelling and reconstructing textile surfaces, accentuating layered narratives of memory, culture, and global trade. In 𝙇𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙊𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙣 series (2020), she worked with vintage domestic textiles collected in Berlin. Interested in the emotional attachments embedded within such objects, Aiko adopted an archival approach, interviewing their donors to uncover the stories, associations, and reflections they evoke. 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙊𝙗𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 (𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝 – 02) (2019) is a jacquard woven tapestry that reimagines Rembrandt’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 (1642) through the incorporation of images of Indian chintz textiles, as well as a chintz fragment bearing the mark of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) found in Japan. Through reconnecting one of the defining paintings of the Golden Age to the transoceanic trade that shaped the period, Aiko reclaims tapestry as a medium that rivalled painting in prestige during the period. In 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (2026) & 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙁𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨 series (2026), Aiko worked with Florentine souvenirs depicting pastoral scenes, portraits, and still-lifes mimicking classical European painting traditions. Parts of the landscape and figures are obscured, dissolving into colorful cascades of thread that disrupt the image and reveal the textile’s underlying structure. - Images: [3] Aiko Tezuka, 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘖𝘣𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 (𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩) (detail), 2019 [4] Aiko Tezuka, 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 (𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴), 2014 [5] Aiko Tezuka, 𝘓𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘖𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘯 (𝘜𝘵𝘦), 2020 [7] Aiko Tezuka, 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 2)(detail), 2026 [9] Aiko Tezuka, 𝘓𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (𝘖𝘷𝘢𝘭 2) (detail), 2026 - 𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 Until 7 Nov 2026 - #AikoTezuka #SoftBorders by @blindspotgallery
𝙍𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙈𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙙: 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 #2 (2024) by Isaac Chong Wai is 𝗟𝗼𝘁 𝟲 in Asian Cultural Council‘s (@acchongkong) 40th Anniversary Fundraising Auction! Online bidding is now open via the link in bio through 30 Oct! Originating from Isaac’s performance 𝘍𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺 (2021/2024), commissioned for the 2024 Venice Biennale, the 𝙍𝙚𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙙, 𝙈𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙙 series translates bodily movement into static, layered form. Isaac’s hand-etched traces of moving figures are drawn onto acrylic glass panels layered over mirrors. As the figures dissolve into abstraction, light and reflections activate the surface, unifiying his performances with material craftsmanship. The work was previously shown at the Taipei Biennial in 2025. - Isaac Chong Wai, 𝘙𝘦𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘥, 𝘔𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥: 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 #2, 2024, Etching on glass, mirror, and aluminium frame, 40 x 30 cm. Kazuko Miyamoto's work is now on view in "𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔". The artist is known for her string constructions of the 1970s-1980s, in which taut strings are stretched between nails embedded in the wall to form geometric structures. In 𝙏𝙬𝙤 𝘿𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙣 (1978, first realized in 2019), a wall is initially outlined with precise pencil lines. Strings are then wrapped around nails embedded at the intersections of the lines, forming a diagonal lattice that interweaves with its own shadows and the underlying drawn lines. Exhibited alongside it is Miyamoto’s plan drawing, underpinning the work’s conceptual rigor. Despite its clean geometrical appearance, the tactility of string carries the trace of the hand. Each activation of the work differs slightly, shaped by tension and gravity, emphasizing human touch in an era of mechanical precision. - 𝑺𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔 Until 7 Nov 2026 - Kazuko Miyamoto, 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘋𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘯, 1978 (first realized in 2019), Industrial cotton string, nails, pencil and plan, Installation size variable, 42 x 46 x 4 cm (plan) - #KazukoMiyamoto #SoftBorders by @blindspotgallery
Hao Jingban’s three-channel video installation 𝙄 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 (2025) will be featured in “𝗛𝗮𝗼 𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗻: 𝗜 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀”, the artist’s first solo exhibition in the USA. On view at the MIT List Visual Arts Center in Massachusetts from tomorrow (23 Oct 2026) to 28 Feb 2027, the exhibition is organized by Chief Curator Natalie Bell (@abellanatalie ). 𝘐 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 was created as part of Hao winning the Han Nefkens Foundation (@hannefkensfoundation ), Mori Art Museum (@moriartmuseum ), M+ Hong Kong (@mplusmuseum ) and Singapore Art Museum (@singaporeartmuseum )– Moving Image Commission 2023. The work has been shown at Mori Art Museum, as part of her solo exhibition, and is currently on view in Singapore Art Museum’s "SAMCollection: The Present is Unstable”. The film explores the enduring, often invisible labor of mourning when public remembrance is restricted or rendered nearly impossible. Beginning with individuals who lost loved ones during the pandemic, the work extends to a wider community carrying grief shaped by social structures, political tensions, and unresolved histories. "While many of the specific narratives remain unspoken, their emotional and political echoes linger in the gestures and silences of those who grieve. Over time, many of the mourners have also passed away, and their stories have not only faded from memory but disappeared from the spaces where they might once have been heard." — Hao Jingban Hao will have an Artist Talk with doctoral student in East Asian Film and Media Studies at Harvard University, Huirong Ye, on 22 Oct (5:30 – 6:30 PM) at Bartos Theatre in MIT.
