Before and after: One simple upgrade totally transformed this coastal living room and dining room

Faux wood blinds with fabric tape and light, airy drapery on each side were the refresh this New Jersey beach home was waiting for. The blinds brighten the space, the trim ties in the palette, and the drapery softens every window.

Woven fabric filtering warm afternoon light, a room that feels lived-in without trying too hard. Our Roman shades do the quiet work here, softening the space while everything else gets to be the star. Textured layering at its best.

Why designers always layer window treatments 👇

Shutters do the hard work — privacy, light control, insulation. Drapery does the soft work — warmth, height, texture. Together they turn a plain room into a finished one, like this coastal dining room. It’s not about covering windows. It’s about framing them.

In condo buildings, the first interaction often happens at the security desk, a small moment of welcome and safety. The lobby is where the feeling of home truly begins.

This transformation focused on reshaping the lobby into an extension of the residents’ homes, a space that feels warm and lived in rather than just a pass‑through.

Other upgrades throughout the building included bringing in fresh air, enhancing the lighting, and improving the overall structure to support a healthier, more comfortable environment for everyone who lives and visits here.

Our scope included full interior design and complete project management, guiding every detail from concept and finishes to furnishings, coordination, and execution.

It’s only one area of the overall project, yet it sets the tone for everything that follows. The result is a thoughtful arrival experience that carries intention, comfort, and a genuinely happy client at the end of this renovation journey.

Behind every great space is a story, and for Archive V founders Cintia Dixon and Isabel Byrnes, this year’s Holiday House Hamptons was an invitation to craft a true sanctuary. Pictured here in their freshly unveiled space, Cintia and Isabel wanted to explore the idea of paradise through a modern lens.

Inspired by the concept of temptation, beauty, and serene luxury, they partnered with Eichholtz Long Island to bring ‘The Garden of Eden’ to life. Rich botanical accents, lush textures, and green apples serve as a playful nod to the forbidden fruit, balancing high-design collectible furnishings with an inviting, tactile warmth.

For Cintia and Isabel, Archive V is about creating spaces that spark conversation and feel as rich in narrative as they are in aesthetic. Step inside and get lost in the details.

Step inside this century home, thoughtfully reimagined by Kait Schneider of @findyourflom. She worked with us to select window treatments that balance the home’s original character with everyday function, creating a thoughtful space that’s classic, modern, and ultra-livable.

“The architecture of the home was the starting point,” says Schneider. “I wanted to modernize this century home while still honouring its history and original character. The resulting style is transitional: clean and current, but grounded in traditional details.”

A blackout Roman Shade pairs beautifully with the transitional decor throughout the guest bedroom.

In the primary bedroom, inside-mounted Cellular Shades enhance blackout and privacy while keeping the window’s architecture beautifully uninterrupted.

Our pleated Gemma Drapery softens the dining room and allows natural light to filter through, while matte black hardware creates a clean, cohesive finish.

One small change can have a huge impact when it comes to styling your home. Here’s how to instantly transform your space with window treatments, even when you’re on a budget:

🏡 Layer, layer, layer! Pair sheer curtains with heavier drapes to let light in while maintaining privacy.

🧶 Don’t be afraid to mix patterns between your drapery and shades.

🪟 Easily Adjustable Shades: Consider installing shades that can easily be adjusted. Cordless or motorized shades will do the trick.

🪜 Height Matters: Hang drapes higher than the window frame to create an illusion of height.

The color of your curtains matters less than you think. Hear us out!

Everyone asks about color first. But color is the last decision that matters when it comes to curtains. The fabric? That's everything.

The type of window treatment fabric you choose determines how light actually enters your room. Whether it glows, filters, floods, or disappears entirely.

Pick the wrong structure and even the perfect color won't save it.

Swipe to see how four different treatments change the same light. Save this before your next window project. Which treatment matches how you actually live in your space? A person with long hair is adjusting a white curtain beside a large window. The text reads, "The #1 Curtain Mistake." A beige couch is in the foreground, and there's a small arrow pointing to the right. by @blindstogo
