I tried to get a few friends to pop out with me to be a part of history, but ended up going dolo. On my way downtown, I made sure to grab some film just in case. T H E x B R O N X | 001“Dirty Bronx Kids”Inspired by @storyavefilm by @aristotlebam, these photos celebrate the pride, resilience, and beauty of the Bronx neighborhood that raised me. And if you know anything about where photos 1–6 were taken, you know that block wasn’t exactly known for sightseeing. 🤣 Still, I found myself drawn back to the corner where I used to catch the 6 train, reflecting on how this familiar place was brought to life on screen in a story about a young Black teenager navigating grief, anger, and transformation.It made me think about how maturity often comes from recognizing that we have agency over our thoughts, even when we can’t control our circumstances. There’s something incredible about seeing a place you know so well tell a story of growth—one that mirrors the journey from struggle to elevation, and powerless to powerful.The Bronx has always been more than a backdrop to me.
