My mates in @blockadebanduk have released an absolute banger of a new song called “Pull”. I was lucky enough to mix and master it for them, check out a few things behind the scenes of the mix…

Joey’s first musical love was musical theatre, inspired by his mum & nurtured through learning the clarinet, alto saxophone & trumpet from a young age. At the same time, his dad introduced him to the music of The Who, laying the foundations for a lifelong passion for rock.

Everything changed when he picked up the guitar at the age of 11. As his technical ability developed, so did his taste in music, gradually shifting towards heavier rock, grunge and metal. By the age of 13, he and his friends were regularly forming school bands. By 16 they were performing at real venues, often having to leave immediately after their set because the venues were strictly over 18.

Joey only begun singing around the age of 20, teaching himself by singing along to artists such as Chris Cornell and other grunge & nu-metal bands during countless car journeys. He steadily developed his voice. What started as a personal challenge quickly became a defining part of his musicianship and he has never looked back since.
