Thanks to @carol.bruneau for stopping by, sitting awhile, chatting and signing copies of her new novel THE LITTLE WAY for our appreciative customers on this gorgeous Fall Day - main character Isla would remind you to stop and look. She even delighted us with an impromptu reading. @nimbuspub #blockshopbooks #lunenburgnovascotia #localauthor by @blockshopbooks

Jo’s Staff Picks for October! #fiction #dystopian #thehystericals @vivekshraya @mcclellandstewart 'Grim and prescient, this near future dystopian hits so close to home it's frankly terrifying...When Kennedy's older sister, Sarah is sexually assaulted, her university stays silent so Sarah takes her own life publicly, in political protest, and by so doing sparks a movement- #freetoo... In this literary, complex, and propulsive page-turner, Shraya pulls no punches and offers up no easy answers. The result is an electrifying read. ' #fiction #localfiction #thelittleway @carolbruneau @nimbuspub 'What acclaimed author Bruneau does brilliantly in her new novel is to focus on the minutiae of our days, those small moments that make up a life. Bruneau gathers together all these threads and weaves a rich and vivid tapestry, a backdrop to her main character Isla Fownes' often amusing thoughts, opinions and feelings...Once the reader is fully immersed Bruneau pulls the lens backs...How will Isla choose to live her life? Will she choose the little way, The life filled with flowers and small unexpected kindnesses? Or will she cave?' #fiction #historicalfiction #ournobleselves #kateatkinson @doubledayca 'Post-war, Harry Flynn, a foreign correspondent turned war journalist who was caught behind enemy lines and subsequently spent time as a POW in a Singaporean camp, returns to England, where he takes what he thinks is a quiet office job... When a woman he had a disastrous date with turns up missing and presumed dead, Flynn is catapulted into a mystery where along with the police he'll have to convince his troubled brain that he is innocent...Beautifully and tautly plotted, filled with a cast of idiosyncratic characters and plenty of red herrings.. #middlegrade #fantasyadventure #theneverfear @katherine.rundell @tundrabooks 'The third in the Impossible Creatures series, is another fast-paced middle grade fantasy adventure...MC Christopher and princess-turned warrior Anya must embark on a quest- a series of Herculean tasks to recover three treasures in order to save their friend...Gentle lessons include friendship, bravery, sacrifice and love.' by @blockshopbooks
