Maxwell “ @thvflood “ Douglass
The creator of Flood Dance

Filmed at @grounded.permaculture

This single-take film captures a powerful moment in the artistic evolution of Maxwell “Thv Flood” Douglass, a pioneering Australian movement artist and the creator of Flood Dance; a unique movement language developed through years of dedicated exploration and practice.

Born in Japan and raised in the unlikely Ipswich, Queensland, Maxwell has cultivated an unmistakable artistic voice that continues to influence and inspire dancers, artists and communities across Australia. His work stands as a rare example of deeply personal movement innovation, blending cultural influences, musicality, improvisation, and embodied storytelling into a form that is entirely his own.

This work documents the essence of that practice:

This jam is quickly becoming one of my favourite events on the Gold Coast… or at least I know the spirit is always there… and I like the spirit haha.
After party was hella vibes aswell, if this full weekend event isn’t in your calendar for next year then change that asap haha, let’s keep spreading the word and make it a legendary event for the East Coast.
A lot of interstate and even international travel happened for people to come through aswell! and I really appreciated that!!
But aye as always!!!! The Gold Coast breaking scene showed out! it’s in full bloom these days and it’s dope to be around those vibeZ and kick it with legends.
Cyas next time Bless!!

I’ve been putting on for Aus, simple things like showing up prepared and always dropping original authentic krump.
This was not! done out on my own, I learnt this from the source.
I would be nothing in this dance without the knowledge I have embodied from my OG

Sampling on the #SP404 by @roland_aus using live drum samples from @davedoggatkins makes the most classic sounds!
So much nostalgia making beats in the rain and just tuning into my own frequency and taste of sounds.
