☘️The last few days in Toronto have been tough to breathe. That makes it even nicer to look back on the weekend spent in the shade of large, blooming linden trees.🍀 🌿You can’t mistake that light, lovely scent for anything else. Walking under the blossoming trees feels like a true gift. It’s a pity they only bloom for 15–20 days a year.🌿🌼But here’s a little trick: you can pick some flowers, dry them, and store them in an airtight glass jar. That way, this amazing aroma will last until next summer. You can open it at any moment and just enjoy the memories. 🌼🏡Lindens are incredible trees. Beautiful and low-maintenance, they are perfect for urban landscaping.✨️They grow fast, tolerate poor soil, and withstand harsh winters as well as summer droughts. Plus, they aren't prone to falling in strong winds, and their foliage traps dust and neutralizes exhaust fumes.✨️🌿The silver linden looks very striking. Some quick facts:🌿 45 species🪾 Lifespan of 200–400 years (some known trees are 1,200 years old!)🌼Starts blooming around age 20 by @bloomingjc

How do you recreate wild nature in the city? The park nailed this challenge by planting local flora to mimic a river floodplain and meadow. The best proof of success? The birds made themselves right at home. Today I learned.I had no idea that ...Hesperis matronalis"Young leaves are high in vitamin C, slightly bitter, and can be eaten in salads or cooked. The tender shoots of the plant during the spring-time, when cooked, are considered an excellent vegetable. The flower buds are eaten as well, and the flowers used for their spicy flavor and bright color." WikipediaKeep in mind thatIt faces legal restrictions in six US states. In Alberta, Canada, it is classified as a noxious weed.#pinkflowers #urbannature #torontolife by @bloomingjc
