2 years ago today I got married! Happy Anniversary @calsey1 !
So it’s taken me 2 whole years to compose a proper post of my day and our incredible suppliers but here it goes…

It was honestly the most amazing day, and something I always say to couples is “you’re going to have the best day ever” and I say it from experience.

We chose @venuelambeth townhall as our ceremony, we had reconnected in Brixton after many years of friendship so Lambeth townhall felt poignant

There was @champagnelaurentperrier for every guest on arrival and a red carnation for each to wear we had 100 guests at our ceremony and had @rebeccaeldridgesings and a wonderful bag piper to keep them entertained before and after the ceremony.

Our son Alfie was ring bearer, and in true (nothing goes to plan) did a runner half way through the ceremony taking our witnesses with him, on their return, we resumed the vows 😂

From there guests jumped on and London bus more drinks to keep them going on the drive to @perryhillpub here we took over the whole pub we had another 100+ guests arrive

Sun shining the garden was filled and fueled with friends and family!
We had oysters (thank you @jamie.younger) and frozen margaritas on arrival. A facepainter @glitterartyfacepainting , magician @jamiedawsmagic and a brass band. Then the BBQ was ready and we ate and drank before speeches commenced in the garden.

We moved inside for our first dance, and cake cutting (by the best) @lyndseys__cakes

And then @arkkmichael arrived with his band to play us reggae for the rest of the night!

Three days ago, these two got married beside the Thames, surrounded by some of the warmest, loveliest people you could hope to spend a Friday with.
They chose Trinity Buoy Wharf because it represented their love of London, with views across to Greenwich, where they once lived, and because they wanted something that felt a little different from the usual stately home or barn.
The brief was “Mediterranean olive grove party on the Thames”, and that is exactly what they created. An outdoor ceremony, brilliant food, good music and a room full of people who were very ready to celebrate them.
So much of the day was made personal by the people they love. Homemade chilli oil and sloe gin favours, a wedding cake made by their friend Rachel, a band led by their university friend Gabriel, and stationery designed by the bride’s brother, including a bespoke portrait for their welcome sign.
The tables were named after pubs that have meant something to them over the years, guests were asked for foodie recommendations instead of marriage advice, and because they are committed pub quizzers, there was naturally a quiz during dinner too.
It was thoughtful without being overly formal, personal without feeling performative, and completely, unmistakably them.
Congratulations, Lucy & Nick. I hope you’re having the most wonderful honeymoon. Your wedding was an absolute joy to photograph, and the perfect reminder that the best celebrations are built around good food, good music, good people and plenty of proper fun.
