As the year 2025 starts so does my recovery of a much needed surgery (needed 5 years ago) MPFL (Medial patellofemoral ligament) reconstruction, a surgical procedure that replaces a damaged ligament in the knee with a new one. The surgery is used to treat recurring kneecap dislocations and to stabilize the knee. In 2020, 5years ago now my knee cap dislocated for the first time randomly after hurting my ACL, MCLand my meniscus during my freshmen volleyball season (for context I’m a sophomore in college now) and because of this for 5 years of my life I’ve been scared of everything I do and I already have anxiety and depression, but The stress of worrying everyday about being careful or when will it happen or this is so embarrassing falling on the ground and crying in front of people (this has happened before) would make my anxiety and everything 100x worse and on days I would have an dislocation, my boyfriend Xander has been there to help me while I cry and break down because of how painful and traumatic every time it happened. Now for the first time all I have to worry about is recovery safely and nicely!! These first couple weeks are going to be rough and Xanders going to Japan to study abroad so I won’t have my biggest supporter but I’m so happy to have friends to support me and care for me. My recovery time is around 5 months and I will be posting on instagram more frequently to keep everyone updated and to use it as a something to look back on.
