Repost @rondearingutc Year 12 students studying a range of arts subjects had the amazing opportunity of working with talented Hull artist, Anna Bean! 🎨

The week long project funded by @generationhull saw students combine artistic flair with engineering know-how to create stunning character masks with moving elements. 🖌️🔧

Photography students were then tasked to set up photoshoots capturing the unique characters, while graphic design students designed merchandise themed around the creations. 📸💻

Throughout the week experienced artist Anna worked with the students to help them develop their creative visions and shared insights and advice which she has picked up throughout her career of designing concepts, sets, costumes, props, and characters for immersive installations and theatrical events. 🎉

💭 Anna said: “It’s my first visit to Ron Dearing and I’ve been blown away by the talent, enthusiasm and ingenuity of the students.

“I’ve done similar mask-making projects with young people before, but never incorporated engineering elements. The students from Ron Dearing came up with innovative ideas and showed incredible attention to detail, which ultimately led to them producing incredible pieces.” 💭

Some of the fantastic work made over the last few months by the young creatives at @ourbigpicture_ I particularly loved making the marshland monsters with them, and you can see how brilliantly they camouflaged themselves amongst the marshland plants.

Repost: @ourbigpicture_ Water Memories & Flood Futures ~ an exhibition of work by children & young people exploring the impact of flooding in Grimsby.

We have worked in partnership with researchers from the Energy & Environment Institute at the University of Hull to deliver a 12 week creative programme for our brilliantly talented creative kids. We learnt about the history of flooding in Grimsby to create contemporary art responses based on our findings.

Our Big Picture invites you to view this wonderful exhibition of work:

⭐️ Community launch ~ Saturday 12th September 12pm - 4pm

⭐️ General Opening ~ 15th - 25th September | Tuesday - Fridays 12pm - 4pm

📌 Our Big Picture. 21 Bethlehem Street, Grimsby, DN31 1JN
