You would always call me your husband. when you would hug me, it would be tight and long and enveloping. I was on my way from lagos to abuja with the excitement and wonder of a 7 year old. I saw the beautiful planes and green grasses of the land. I was coming to spend time with you. I was coming to tell you about my year and how i had been holding up. And then you’ll call me your hero. I was coming to hold you tighter and longer till i held you right and heard all your stories. But then the news hit. The Planes weren’t as beautiful anymore and color began to fade from my world. And my sense of wonder got tired. I hadn’t even gotten here yet, hadn’t seen you, hadn’t had the chance to hold you before Heaven decided it was time for you to go home. JOSEPHINE NANCHAP GUYIT was a strong woman. You birthed warriors and Queens of stamina and strength, its in the saying, Lions Only give birth to Lions. Not all hearos get their own songs, not all stories hold enough to survive the tides. I will miss you mama. In Death we dont decide, but in my heart, you will forever shine.
