LETTERS FROM MAX was just extended thru 3/26! If you haven’t already, please come experience this moving show as we come together to grieve, love, and share poetry. (I’ve always been terrible at social media captions). Highlighting just a handful of beloved friends, family, and cast mates who have already supported this experience, including a special hidden-round-the-corner guests by the name of Meryl freaking Streep and Glenn freaking Close. To have the opportunity to honor the work and life of a brilliant artist like Max Ritvo and on top of that to share it with loved ones without whom none of this could happen - and living legends - is beyond words. I’ll be singing Sarah Ruhl, Kate Whoreisky, Jessica Hecht and Zane Pais’s praises for the rest of my damn life. And a special shout out to David Vadim, who upon seeing the show I had one my own personal best days ever, walking and reflecting and talking about life, acting, poetry, and more. For those not featured - there will be more! And for those yet to come, hurry and get your tickets! Even if you have come - come see the “other Max” as each show is very different. DOLPHIN FLIP had its (informal) NYC premiere this past Saturday, to a crowd of 100+ loved ones and great artists living and working in the city.

I can’t tag Sylvester Pribil but he first approached me to ask a question while I was working on ADMISSIONS in the West End. I promised to keep answering his questions and he kept asking… for seven years, until eventually asking me to direct his first feature film.

Flash forward and @crosbystreet_hotel’s gorgeous screening room later…

DOLPHIN FLIP had its first American screening.

@brad.m.porter and @megmcase helped convince me to take on the project, and agreed to travel with me as part of a small American contingent to Canada to work as DP and in the art department respectively — they were invaluable collaborators and cheerleaders and excellent at their jobs.

While we had all sorts of “movie set fun”, the experience was crazy from the very start…

On morning one before shooting a single shot, I fell down a full flight of stairs and broke 4 bones in my left arm and my left ribs (I only found out I broke my ribs months later!).

@amesc deserves the biggest shout out, as she kept me sane, in one piece (or as close to it as possible), and fearlessly led our production team and crew through our month long stay. From ER to set to personal help she went far beyond the call of duty time and time and time again.

I was very lucky to be visited, after breaking bones and halfway through our shoot, by @dpedelman @djb9.5 @lacolarte aka mom, dad, and my incredible girlfriend, Liz. I am beyond lucky to have loved ones who support me — and so much so to even cross the border and give me love: supportive and tough love alike.

The entire cast & crew stepped up and made what could have been a nightmare an amazing experience.

Most of all, the focus remained: the story. Love, youth, family, identity. Universal ideas that are much easier to talk about than to actually create and capture. Also untaggable on Instagram is my coach, mentor, colleague, and friend, David Vadim, who guided me from moment one on this project as he always has done in the past and kept my eye on the prize through thick and thin — without whom I can’t even ima taken in Crosby Street Hotel by @bluemanrocks

Another great feature from our own backyard: 𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗡 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗣!

🏡 Shot entirely in London, over an 18-day shoot, 𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗡 𝗙𝗟𝗜𝗣 is homegrown through and through. Writer, producer, and lead actor sylvesterpribil is a London local, as are many members of the crew.

Ella (Amanda Arcuri) and Jake (Sylvester Pribil), two troubled charismatic twenty-somethings who lead opposite lifestyles, try to avoid falling into the trauma bond relationships they are so used to. One intellectualizes life, the other sexualizes life, but both keep running into the same closed door of intimacy, trust, and growth.

Unsure how to navigate, they soon realize the door magically keeps opening for them to be together, no matter what they do. They just have to not give up.

Lovely and deeply sincere, the film skillfully walks the line between quirky comedy and much heavier themes, finding humour without undermining the emotional weight beneath it.

There is something wonderfully reminiscent of a bygone era of independent filmmaking here, recalling the warmth, awkwardness, and offbeat humanity of films like GARDEN STATE or LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.

It’s a film that feels both nostalgic and distinctly its own, finding something funny, messy, and ultimately hopeful in two people simply trying to figure out how to let someone else in.

In development with the legendary Elvis Costello, the great David Cromer, and a group of fantastic actors, musicians, and more. A great start to 2026 - the opportunity to work with such iconic figures is always exciting, but even moreso by far when they are warm, hard-working collaborators setting the standard of giving your all to your art and carrying yourself as a person with a integrity no matter what.
