In the late 90s when we first opened the doors @blueplatesf we didn't have a sign out front yet. @mickeyreyes & #jakephelps popped their heads in the door and said "what is this place?" . It's a restaurant come in. They pulled up to the counter with the energy of two middle schoolers on an afterschool special.. punching each other and talking shit about everything in sight, including each other. Gettin them to settle down was never gonna happen. sadly, our friend and big supporter @mickeyreyes passed on to another place yesterday. He loved having dinners with his mother and daughter @dakotablue_ and the rest of his family with a proud look on his face of a San Francisco Mexican mafioso. His heart was big and made of red and gold. Gracias Papi.

Dinner & drinks under a lemon tree? Say less.

I had one of my favorite meals in SF this spring trying @blueplatesf, so I had to kick off the summer by going back with a bigger group to taste more dishes.

This place has been a local gem for 27 years now, and every bite makes it clear why. Their food manages to feel cozy and comforting yet still creative and innovative, and the atmosphere always makes you feel at home.

I may love their patio, but their indoor seating is just as inviting, so you truly can’t go wrong.

We opened 27 years ago and didn't even have a sign for the first nine months. People would pop their heads in the door and ask him what it was.Yes it has always been about food and wine. An outdoor happy hour on a Saturday? It doesn’t get better than that. 🥂

@blueplatesf truly has one of the best happy hours in the city. From 5-6pm every Tuesday-Saturday, you can get $8 wines by the glass, $5 draft beers, and $10 apps to enjoy on their gorgeous garden patio.

Happy hour may be the best deal, but it’s absolutely worth going any time of day to try some of their delicious dishes like the Charred Octopus and signature Meatloaf.
