Neville did indeed “get more.” Springtime in the Lost Sierra. The @outcastsportinggear Cruzer Max was plush and crushed as always. @blueribbonnets steady scoopin’ with ease and style. Techniques employed: -Full sink vertical and slow kick troll off the bottom for the daytime deep dwellers. -Standard float line indicator rig for early evening grabs when they start following those nymphs up through the column. -not employed, but highly effective: the slip-indicator rig. I personally dislike fishing with crazy long leaders, however, it’ll surely get ‘em. Just have a buddy around to tug your line when the damn slip doesn’t do its only job. Never experienced anything like it… the last 45 minutes of available light is pure hex chaos. The water is carpeted with bright yellow gentle giants. All around you, subtle slurps; gulp, gulp, gulp. You’ll track a fish moving in a dedicated pattern, gulping every few feet. You cast ahead of its path, and if you’re lucky, it picks yours over the dozens immediately surrounding yours. Then you take a beat and say a prayer, “lord, carry me,” “why are you obsessed with me,” “somebody suck me.” Then it either sticks or it doesn’t. So stoked on this… my first float tube was an Outcast I bought on a road trip second-hand for $100 in Spokane, WA. Honestly, that thing is still going strong as hell, but now I got oars!This one is the Cruiser Max for max comfort and potential for max torque. It’s very sick. Can finally keep up with the bros who were already oaring or peddling.Got skunked on Tahoe my first couple outings 😂. Can never evade the new gear curse!Looking forward to ripping lots of tube trips and meeting up with friends on the water this summer. The fall weather was too pristine to pass it up. Even the smaller bows and browns have great fighting spirit. When you run into one with ample size though, between that same wild spirit and a moderately swift current, the battles that take you down bends become memorable ones!
