The most valuable gems in life can’t be bought—only found.🩵💙🩵If you think the world’s most beautiful paradise is Bora Bora or the Maldives… think twice. 🏝️ Aitutaki might just steal the top spot.

The moment I saw Aitutaki, I understood why people call it one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The lagoon is so unreal that it makes you question every beach you’ve ever visited. The water is crystal clear—you can often see 20–30 meters (65–100 feet) below the surface, making boats look like they’re floating in the sky.

Aitutaki may not have the worldwide fame of Bora Bora or the Maldives—and that might be exactly what makes it so magical. ✨

It’s a place where the lagoon still feels untouched, the beaches feel private, and the beauty comes with a sense of peace that’s becoming harder to find.

Can the ocean really be this transparent? 💙

Muri Lagoon is one of Rarotonga’s most iconic places, where calm turquoise water, tiny offshore islands (motu), and lush mountain views come together. Protected by a coral reef, the lagoon stays shallow and peaceful, making it perfect for a relaxing day on the water. 💙

It’s especially amazing to see how clear the water becomes during sunrise, when the soft morning light reveals the incredible transparency of the lagoon. 🌅✨( last pic)

* The lagoon is protected by a coral reef, which you can see on picture #5 , keeping the water calm most of the year.

What if sunset was the best part of your day? 🌅
In the Cook Islands, it usually might be. The sky turns gold, the ocean reflects everything, and time just slows down.
The second photo was taken in complete darkness which is hard to believe.. No sunset, no glow — just night. But the flash revealed something unexpected: everything was still in 50 shades of blue. I’ve seen sunsets, but nothing prepared me for the way the Cook Islands looks in darkness.

Rarotonga’s coastal road loops around the entire island, turning every ride into an adventure. Rent a scooter and cruise past turquoise beaches, hidden cafés, roadside fruit stalls, and ocean views around almost every corner. Depending on your license, you may even stop by the local police station for a Cook Islands driving permit — a fun part of the experience and a unique island memory.

I never knew I needed a rooster hiking with me to the top of the mountain until now. 🐓😂

Everyone (including me) posts the turquoise lagoons. Meanwhile I hiked across Rarotonga on foot — from one side of the island to the other.

If you’re doing this hike, bring rain into the plan too — because that’s exactly what I got. The trail turned slick fast, and suddenly the ropes weren’t “optional support”… they were the whole strategy.

The first climb led to The Needle, deep in thick green forest, where the trail slowly went from “this is fine” to “okay, lock in.” About 30–40 minutes in, you can already spot how far up it is (pic 4)… and it feels way further than it looks.

Then it really kicks in — wind picking up, ropes, chains, steep sections, and that switch where you stop talking and just move.

At around 2000 feet up, there’s a small clearing with one of the most unreal views on the island. The wind up there is no joke — it’s more like it’s testing your balance and your life choices at the same time.

And somehow… the rooster was still with us. Same route. Same chaos. No ropes. No hesitation. Just casually living his best life. He never gave me his name, so I called him Granola after he aggressively committed to my snack.

Made it to the top thanks to Bruce — the only guide personally taught by Pa Teuruaa, who created this cross-island hike years ago.

After The Needle, we crossed a wild river (which definitely wasn’t “gentle” that day) and kept going deeper into the island… ending it all with a waterfall and a cliff jump into freezing water that somehow felt perfect.
