Why the name “BLUE SKY STUDIO?” 👩‍🎨 What a spontaneous creative window of time did for me was a bit unbelievable at first. I may share details at a later time, but what I can tell you now is that creativity has a direct relationship to your nervous system in the absolute best way. You don’t have to consider yourself an artist. You don’t have to have experience. If you have access to a medium and a little time on your hands, you can just play. Without thinking about an outcome, submerge in the process. Ask any trained artist (that has known this for a while) how they feel after they create… 🧠🎨💪 Research confirms cortisol drops, mood softens, the brain physically changes, rewires and unwinds stress. There are many studies that look at the changes in the brain and its effects on behavior after creative sessions. I’ll be sharing more on this - but go on a deep dive yourself 🤓 ☀️ As I searched for a name for the studio I didn’t know I needed, I came across the term “blue-sky thinking.” An effort to brainstorm creative ideas without any limits, practical rules, or financial parameters. When applied to this space in the village of Red Hook, it’s meant to inspire freedom to try and encourage play with the materials in your hands. Process-art is about diving into a creative moment without focus on the end result. After spending time at Blue Sky, we may leave with art we’re going to show everyone, or a rough draft for another idea. This is where my creative heart lives. We also invite those who knew art was in their DNA early on - studied - practiced - mastered, to come play. If you’re inclined, share what you know. I’d love to share the space with those that have something to teach. How lucky are we to live in a place where there is so much talent and opportunity to soak in the creativity around us. 💙🩵 Also, no matter what is happening ☀️⛈️ night or day, a blue sky is there above it all. #redhook #rhinebeck #hudsonvalley #hudsonvalleyartist #processart taken in Red Hook, New York by @blueskystudiospace
