Living with flowers.
Denver, CO.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I was a 16 when I went to beauty school. I had this incredibly fierce and talented teacher with shiny black locks and a signature red lip.
I remember asking her one day, “How do we get people to take us seriously?”
She said, “Wear red lipstick.”
I laughed, and she said, “Well, don’t you want people to pay attention to what you say? Be bold in a sea of safe.”
Funny the little things people say that stay with you. by @blueyarrow_

I think it’s important to photograph flowers, especially bouquets. Doing so has taught me that design isn’t only about arranging stems — it’s about how the flowers move with the person carrying them. A bouquet should never outshine, but flow alongside, shifting beautifully from every angle.
Im so grateful for all opportunities creating for others this year . I’m not a business in floristry and I don’t think I ever will to be honest. My days are rooted in the garden — planting, raising seedlings, and blending colors for the seasons ahead.
However, I like to think of creating for others as a happy stumble. If you’ve found me, if this work speaks to you, that’s exactly how I want it — quiet, a little hidden, almost like a whisper. My messages are always open for those moments. #autumnflowers

A softer take on Halloween, with roses and the last of the foxgloves and Japanese anemones from the garden. Haven’t shared nearly enough of the roses this year, but that little spray rose is proudly sitting up high. by @blueyarrow_

One of our sentimental dahlias, Czarny Charakter.
One of the few that kept its original Polish name as it traveled beyond Poland. Czarny Charakter translates to “Dark Character,” and it certainly lives up to its name. Dark, moody, and magnificent. by @blueyarrow_

DAHLIAS
The beauty of coming together 🌿
I wanted to list the names of the dahlias used because the more we know, the more we can grow. Literally and figuratively.
For designers, gardeners, and growers, so much of how we connect is through sharing what we grow, learn, and use. Seeing a flower used in an arrangement might inspire a client—or yourself—to seek out that variety. And when growers know what people are drawn to, they know what we might want to see more of.
And can we talk about some of the hybridizers here in the U.S.? Some of my most cherished dahlias were hybridized right here in our own soil, and I think there’s something really special about that.
At the same time, it’s pretty incredible that varieties are shared from across the world, grown in completely different little corners, and eventually brought together.
I love showing dahlias through arrangements because it’s how I communicate the way I see a flower. Maybe sharing their names, and the people behind them, inspires someone else to see something in them too.

Sometimes when creating arrangements, I think of the book Waiting for Godot. For many of us flower benders, we weave creations for special moments—moments that should absolutely be remembered and cared for with love.

But for me, right now, my art is mostly for my home. Using ingredients gathered from our little space has somehow left me with notebooks filled with everything I’ve learned along the way, growing and arranging flowers here in the city. I don’t want to wait for an occasion to create something beautiful. A regular Friday night at home with my family feels worthy of that care too. by @blueyarrow_

Flowers for home. It’s really the whole point for me. Bringing the outside in.
After two years of envisioning this space, home is finally starting to feel more like home. And the garden is finally giving us enough blooms to fill it.
I think so much about the space, the palette and even the colors I grow. How they’ll look in the house, what they’ll sit next to, how it all sort of flows together. by @blueyarrow_
