Did you know that some flowers and plants are UV reactive? There’s a few reasons for this, but one is to attract pollinators. I 100% overcommitted when I planned mine and my son’s summer class schedule, however, I am learning some cool things in Biology of Plants and Society. This plant, for instance, is nicknamed the “prayer plant” because of the way the leaves fall during the day. I thought I was seeing things when I woke up in the morning to the leaves fallen down. I assumed they were thirsty, but they had plenty. Later in the evening, I noticed the leaves had shifted and stood up facing a grow light I had just placed next to them. Now, stay with me cuz this has completely fascinated my little brain and I hope at least one other person will join me 😅What I learned is that the leaves tend to flatten during the day to catch the rays, and then follow the sun acting like little solar panels trying to absorb as much light as possible. They also have a beautiful dark burgundy color on the bottom side of the leaves which help to reflect the unabsorbed light back through the leaves to catch any nutrients not caught the first time. These are plant adaptations to maximize photosynthesis considering only 5% of natural sunlight hits the rainforest floors. I haven’t stopped thinking about this all week. 🤯#plantadaptations #biology #plantsmakemehappy by @blueyes8283

Took a little break to celebrate the start of a new career on Monday and I am absolutely elated. Still shocked the way it fell together as if it was meant for my taking 🤯🤯Over the last year or so, the message showing up centers around the way we tend to put the focus on what is happening TO us instead of FOR us. It’s soo clear to me when zooming out on some of my uncomfortable experiences, that when I stay consumed in the stress of it, that it’s much harder to see what I am being directed towards. I am really looking forward to being back at a CPA firm and continuing my schooling. That degree is soo close, yet soo dang far away….#accountinglife #bachelorsdegree #icanalmosttasteit by @blueyes8283

It’s spring break and the first one in a very long time that I didn’t plan any travel for the off. Instead, I’m recovering from a stressful semester and preparing for the next half. I work myself soo dang hard that when I have a break, I end up having no choice but to rest and de-stress. That gave me time for some handmade crafts which I really enjoy doing.
