Our last days in Scotland took us to Inverness, The Blair Castle and Blair Athol Distillery (the rolled out the red carpet for Denise) and then on to Edinburgh where we conquered Arthur’s Seat and hit a bunch of Castles and pubs including the World’s End and The Last Drop. The next to last castle picture in this grouping was not only featured in the recent Outlander Series but was the setting for Monty Python’s Holy Grail where the cow was thrown from the roof and the knights took on the killer rabbit! Overall, an awesome trip with our good friends Brad and Tina Glazier. Glad to be home but this is a trip that will long live in my memory. Highly recommended. by @blusmitty

Our time in Scotland was awesome but produced way too many pictures for one post. Here’s some from the first three days including Ft William, the Eileen Donan Castle, the Jacobite Steam train (yes, the one from Harry Potter- we were supposed to ride it but due to flight delays missed it. We found our way to the viaduct the next day for some pictures) and, best of all, the Isle of Skye which has unparalleled rugged beauty. Currently in transit home. More in a couple of days with Inverness, Edinburgh and a whole bunch of Castles featured in the Outlander series. by @blusmitty

A well spent week in Ireland with time in Dublin, Kinsale, Dingle and Galway. A few pubs and distilleries along the way with stops to kiss the Blarney Stone, a trip around the Dingle Peninsula, a visit to the Kylemore Abbey and some national park hikes. We also visited the Cliffs of Mohr but could literally see none of the actual scenery due to rain and fog. Our pub stops included the oldest one in Dublin, the Brazen Head, and the oldest in Ireland, Sean’s Bar. The country was rich in scenery, much of which can’t really be captured well with a camera. Overall, an awesome week that was followed by our current tour of Scotland that will find its way into another post. by @blusmitty

On the heels of my recent LinkedIn post about practicing law at the age of 70 without regrets, the Grand Rapids Bar Association coincidently published this article. For the wise guys who view this post, the bar association is a professional group, not a drinking club- although that is not a bad idea!! by @blusmitty

I returned from our winter adventures to find to my complete surprise that I have been honored again by the readers of Grand Rapids Magazine in the “radio personality “ category (right next to Dog Parks and Rock Climbing)! Thanks to all that voted. It is so special to be recognized and honored for doing something that I truly enjoy. The amazing station that is 88.1 fm, WYCE, (and streaming on-line at WYCE.org) gets most of the credit as its massive library of cds and vinyl makes it easy to mix up a set of great music. Tune in on Thursday mornings from 7-9 for my mix of folk, rock, R&B, jazz, world and hip-hop all personally selected by me each week. No playlists, no algorithms, just tunes that fit my fancy at the moment. You never know what you’ll hear next! Thanks again!!!

A venture into Yellowstone on the way back east. Old Faithful and the falls were highlights. We spent part of our honeymoon in the Lodge 45 years ago. It seems frozen in time. I hope we age as well as it has! by @blusmitty

It’s been quite a week. Boston Marathon on Monday, then to New Orleans the rest of the week for the Jazz and Heritage Festival. Basically, two marathons in a row with 11-12 hours of music each day between the festival and club shows at night!Lots of musical highlights including Stevie Nicks, Jon Batiste, The Iguanas, The Band of Heathens, Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentlemen, The Revivalists and, later today, David Byrne. Back to LA tomorrow to start the journey to Michigan mid week. by @blusmitty

Well, my 25th consecutive Boston is now in the books. While the outside world often thinks of running as a solo event, those of us that do it know that it takes a team of family and friends to make it happen over so many years. I am grateful for my family who came to Boston for this milestone and for all the friends who made the weekend special. They even had shirts printed up for the occasion. I am guessing my firm’s marketing department won’t approve the back of the shirt for our next advertising campaign, but it is pretty funny. On to the next adventure!! by @blusmitty
