“Jack of all Trades, Master of None; Still Always Better than a Master of One.” There is a mythical essence to this saying. It purports a devaluation in the mastering one trade or skill. As myths go, there begs a question of ”what if??..” What if the one skill was The Pivot? On the journey of self discovery, there is no skill nor tool more essential or more powerful than the pivot. Whether constructing creatively or defending by dismantle; the ability to adjust and react hold the reins of success. To achieve the level or to obtain the skill are markers and milestones. Each creating a next step along the path. The path of discovery leading to expansion. The measurement of success being: How did you Grow?Brutus “Mace” Moore III is no stranger to pivot. It has become a most useful skill on his creative journey for more than 30+ years. His inspiration sparked by cartoons, comics, and department store gift stations; Mace’s mastery of the pivot began early. Finding New York his home as a child and raised in the BX borough made transition and pivot not only necessary, but with time and talent, an Art. While Mace’s journey as a graffiti artist perpetuates the foundations of his creative journey, it is his skill as Pivot Master that has and continues to translate his love for artistic expression and experience into mediums of music, videography, and curation.
