POSTS STORIES REELS
I’m elated to share that I’ll be joining the faculty at @umkccons in the fall as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Composition. I’m joining a world-class faculty of composers, performers, and theatre and dance artists. We are thrilled to move to Kansas City, a hub for arts and culture, and great BBQ that absolutely competes with (or outclasses 😂) TX BBQ. I’m particularly excited that this position is geared toward immersive interdisciplinary collaboration; I’ll also be joining a cohort of new faculty in theatre and sound design and building forward-looking collaborative multimedia storytelling projects. I’m really looking forward to making new work that engages different disciplines and the city and community of KC. In many ways, this news is bittersweet, as Maggie and I have cherished our time at @sfasumusic in Nacogdoches, especially all of the friends we have made and the helpful, supportive, and kind mentorship of our faculty colleagues as we navigate academic life. I’m also particularly proud of my students, who have grown immensely as artists and people during my 4 years here. I am eager to follow their journeys as they continue on to their next adventures! by @bmorris21293

New recording! Happy to share the video/audio recording of ACCOUNTS OF A LOST WORLD with @piffarorenaissanceband premiered at @sourcesongfestival this past summer. This is a very special festival and an incredible group to collaborate with. Full YouTube video in my Linktree in bio! “Accounts of a Lost World” borrows texts from historical descriptions of natural landscapes and flora and fauna, primarily from journals from the major exploratory journeys of the New World and the American frontier from the 15th to 19th centuries. There are some other recognizable contemporary texts you may recognize while listening as well 😉 Piffaro, The Renaissance Band: @priscillaherreid - recorder and shawm @ben_matus - tenor dulcian Greg Ingles - alto sackbut Erik Schmalz - bass and tenor sackbuts @stephanie.c.corwin - bass dulcian Grant Herreid - vihuela Voices: @sonjatengblad @claraosowski @sjbrunscheen @andrew.b.kane @piffarorenaissanceband Video and audio recorded by @wild.sound.recording.studio #renaissancemusic #artsong #earlymusic by @bmorris21293

@umkccons and Kansas City friends! We'd love to invite you all to TWO unique lecture events on Tuesday 9/29 with @martybeller, drummer for the band @they_might_be_giants, established media composer, and fellow @frostschoolum alum! The two events on Tuesday 9/29 are as follows: -11-11:50am in PAC521 - composing talk for Composition I class -1:30-3:00pm in Grant Recital Hall - Lecture on Career and Entrepreneurship Marty will bring us inside the world of a professional musician whose career moves seamlessly between recording, touring, and scoring for the screen – on stage, in the studio, and in the creative spaces where projects come to life. These are immersive, interactive lectures! You are all encouraged to attend both events, and please invite your friends! This is a unique chance to learn from an experienced and diverse composer in the media scoring and popular music landscape… don’t miss it! @umkccomposersguild by @bmorris21293
