BMWCCA PSR presents our Sept 24th, 2026 Car Control Clinic at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington

Cost: $150 Includes Lunch. Note: MSR has added an additional $2 fee per registration unless you are a Hagerty Drivers Club member.

Registration will be closed when this class reaches capacity or 7 days prior to the event, whichever occurs first.

Car Control Clinics are a fun way to learn what the vehicle you drive every day is truly capable of doing in emergency and high stress situations. Exercises include Emergency Braking, Accident Avoidance, Wet Skipad, Slalom and a higher speed handling oval. At lunch you will be allowed to take your car onto the track for a few parade laps led by instructors.

There will be a mandatory online ground school prior to the CCC to learn car control theory and terminology.

HOT laps. After you complete all of the exercises for the day you have the opportunity to borrow a helmet for a few fast laps around the track in an instructor's car with the instructor driving.

Car Control Clinic and HPDE sessions run simultaneously. It is not possible to attend both CCC and HPDE on the same day.

Part 2: the design that split the BMW world in half. 🔥

Chris Bangle became BMW’s chief of design in the 90s and by the early 2000s he threw out the brand’s classic, conservative lines.
He called his approach “flame surfacing,” sculpted creases and tension lines instead of flat panels.
The Z4 wore this the loudest of any BMW at the time.
Longtime fans were furious. Some dealers reported walkouts. Message boards called it a disaster.

Here’s the part I keep coming back to.
Look at a Z4 next to almost anything else from 2002. Nothing else looked like it.
That’s the whole point of a polarizing design. It either ages into a mistake, or it ages into ahead of its time.
For me, this one aged into timeless. 🏁

🗳️ Timeless or trend? Comment YES for timeless, NO for trend.
💬 Where do you land on Bangle-era BMWs? Tell me below.

Meet the newest member of the garage: a 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i. And no, the E30 ain’t going anywhere. 🏁

The Z4 takes over daily driver duty so the E30 can stay the toy.
Fewer rainy commutes for the S52 car. More top down Sundays for both.

I passed on four Z4s to get this one.
A broken strut tower bracket, a branded title, and two different accident histories.
The one I bought had a clean report, real service records, and took a lot of negotiating.

My screening order for any used car:
1️⃣ Get the VIN before you drive anywhere.
2️⃣ Check open recalls on NHTSA for free.
3️⃣ Run the history report only on cars that survive that.
4️⃣ Book a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) with a shop YOU choose, never the seller’s.
5️⃣ Use the report to negotiate or walk.

A PPI costs a few hundred dollars and can save you thousands. 🔍
If a seller refuses one, that’s your answer.

The Z4 build starts soon. My goal is a street car with occasional autocross & track days.

🗳️ Team E30 or Team Z4? Drop a pic of E30 or Z4 if you have one.

In 2011, BMW introduced the performance focused 1M. Part of the E8x BMW 1 Series, the 1M was offered with a 3.0L turbocharged inline six engine and a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission. Although the 1M was created using existing BMW components, the product of those parts is one of the most desirable BMWs ever made. Add this desirability to limited production (6,309 were built worldwide) and you have a truly special combination. by @bmwpugetsound
