🎉🎲 3 YEARS OF BOARD STUPID! 🎲🎉 Well, here we are… Board Stupid is officially THREE YEARS OLD! 🥳 Three years ago, we started this channel pretty much on a whim. No big plans, no real objectives, no expectations of where it might go. Just two mates who loved board games and thought it would be fun to sit in front of a camera and talk about our greatest passion. And somehow, three years later, here we are! 📊 THREE YEARS IN NUMBERS: 🎥 350 videos published 👥 9,400 subscribers (and counting…) 👀 Over 2 MILLION views 🎲 More board games played (and purchased!) than we’d probably like to admit! If you’d told us three years ago that we’d reach these numbers, we probably would have laughed! But the truth is, as proud as we are of these milestones, the numbers are only a tiny part of what makes this whole experience so special. Over these three years, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some truly wonderful people, attend incredible conventions, make new friends, and become part of a community that continues to surprise us with its kindness, generosity and passion. What started as a little hobby has become such an important part of our lives, and that’s something we genuinely never expected. A very special THANK YOU to all our amazing Patrons! ❤️ Your support means more to us than you probably realise. The fact that some of you choose to support two idiots talking about board games every month is still pretty surreal! 😂 You’ve helped us do things we never thought possible, and we’re incredibly grateful to have you along for the ride. We also played Tenpenny Parks from @thunderworksgames chez @boardgamereviewuk and it was another new-to-me game. Build the most exciting fairground over five rounds while enjoying lovely art from Vincent Dutrait 😃 Place a worker to claim a new attraction, concession stand, park extension or to gain some cash, then place the matching tile on your park board. Unlike most tile placement games, this one insists that no edges ever touch, which makes every placement crucial! 🎢 You can expand your park or clear trees to make space but with only a limited number of turns, can you spare the resource? Maybe you can align the Big Top for a discount and make it work? 🎪 Every new attraction pushes you up one or more of the Thrill, Awe & Joy tracks. The leader on each gets a bonus each round as well as each player gaining points if they're far enough along by game end.⚡️ This was just the level of fun & puzzle I really enjoy. The theme works well and the gameplay was very rewarding for a fairly light game. Definitely want to play again! #boardgames #tabletopgames #fairground #park #brettspiel by @boardstupiduk

In the ongoing but highly irregular series known as 'Simon's never played that classic', last night I played Concordia for the first time! This is one of the most highly regarded 'Euro' games, having the traditional look, tight resource management and classic theme of 'trading in the Mediterranean'. If I'm honest, those elements are what initially kept me away or at least did not draw me into the game. I'm happy to say though I enjoyed it quite a lot 😃 Players start with matching sets of cards, each giving you one of a few actions when played (move & build, buy new cards, trade goods etc). The really interesting part though is that these cards also determine your end game scoring, so the decision space when investing in new cards is not just about the action you'll gain but what scoring the card focuses on. Is the ability to produce more silk mid-game more important than doubling your points for number of pieces on the board at the end? I'm going to start near the end for this #firstimpressionsfriday🎲 coverage of Falling from @capstone_games as it's a really cool feature: when you pass at the end of a round you get a reward, if an opponent then takes another turn you get a second reward! This keeps going as long as at least one player is actively taking turns, leading to straight points earned after a few goes. Nice! Other cool features in this resource loop game revolve around the buildings you place onto the central board from your personal one. As well as the immediate bonuses from placement (points/resources/cash/ability triggers), the better you build directly influences your income for the next round so it's doubly rewarding to get them out. Things get even more interesting as the bottom two rows drop off at the end of each round (thematically the falling tower you're on hitting the ground). Often in games this would feel like a backwards step but in Falling you gain a bonus for each building returned to you (which you can help you build again on another floor).
