Well… here we go!!!

A dream I’ve had for a very long time is actually becoming a real thing.

Only read ahead if you’re ready to geek out to some critters I’ve seen recently and been lucky enough to catch on camera

1. Crab sheds.
2. Critically endangered and rare Spotted (or bottlenose) Wedgefish orrr we call them guitar sharks 🤷‍♀️
3. Live and extremely active Baler Snail.
4. Sneak attackkkk!! Baby cray just escaping being dinner.
5. Manta Ray aka. The Midnight Manta.
6. Giant Spotted Eagle Ray leftovers…clearly not a fan of ribs 🦈
7. Live Spider Conch (lambis) flip.
8. No lack of shark action. Just a quick glimpse of this juvenile Tiger.
9. ID the photo bomber.
10. Yellow Boxfish.
11. Live Auger shell (video seriously doesn’t justify how big this one was wow).
12. Calamari… scientific name = squid 🦑
13. Green Sea Turtle.
14. Literally a Cowrie shell just sitting on a Cowtail Ray… ummm whaaaat.
15. Cyerce Nigricans. nudi nudi nudi.
16. Nurse Shark.
17. Unicorns 🦄
18. Honeycomb Moray Eel.
19. Lionfish.
20. Any chance to swim into a black hole…

Not every magical place is always gentle. This place is beautiful in a raw type of way. Untamed, unpredictable, remote and just plain powerful. Enough to remind you how small you truely are and no matter how experienced or prepared you are, you’re never in control.

These islands have always been a huge part of my families lives but there is no question, we were tested this year. Challenges and moments so scary they put everything into perspective and have us questioning our little island tradition. But through those moments, it also gave us some of the best memories we’ve ever had and will continue to. I love my people and I love this place. Protect your clutch.
