I’ve been cosplaying for about 8 years, and it’s what first sparked my love for sewing and creating. Over time, it’s led me to learn a range of crafting and construction techniques, and I really enjoy the process of bringing a costume to life from scratch. I’m excited to keep developing my skills and exploring new techniques as I continue creating.

@bobbindoll won Best in Show at this year’s Tokyo Alley Cosplay Competition! Their Toybox Miku stole the show with immaculate wigwork, polished finishes and of course, the iconic dress.

- What was the most challenging aspect of your build?
For Toybox Miku, I found the structure to be the most challenging aspect. In particular, finding a way for the key to be supported securely without the attachment being visible, as well as working out the shape and structure of the skirt, which required a lot of trial and error.

- If you could give one tip about cosplay competitions, what would it be?
Choose a design that you really love and that allows you to demonstrate a range of techniques. It’s important to enjoy the process and not let the pressure take away from the creativity and fun of building.

- What is your next project?
My next major project is Sakizo’s Snow White!

Finally get to make my Miku post!

This project took about 6 months of work, and I learnt a lot of new skills along the way. I knew I wanted to work on a cosplay with a ballet theme and I was so pleased to find this design.

Thank you to the judges (@addyharajuku , @xxbreebree , @asumi_cos ) at @tokyoalleyperth for awarding me best in show - I’m so honoured! Congrats to the other contestants.

Such an amazing weekend at Pixel - I had so much fun in my first competition! Thank you to my unpaid employees @mossyfungi13 and @bunnichomp for helping me get in and out of this cosplay.

Elizabeth was a lot of fun to make and wear but I should definitely bring a portable stool next time…
