Pappy was the closest thing to a father I’ve had in my adult years. The easiest man to respect, admire, and sincerely heed advice from. A perseverance that left me in awe. Both him and Mimi. He had no patience for incompetency. A true renaissance man (obituary link in my bio) who ultimately was defined by his generosity and infectious spirit. If he’d been afforded the same opportunities I had as a young person — all thanks to him — I have no doubt he would’ve been an exceptional performer. For with all of his endless talents and passions, his storytelling abilities were in a league of their own. As much as I was paying homage to @chazzpalminteri in A Bronx Tale, I was as equally impersonating my grandfather.

I thought he’d live forever. He lived a life that was full, and passed away this weekend peacefully in his home on Long Island with dignity. He was ready. But I wasn’t. Thank you for pointing the way, Pappy. I love you. by @bobby_conte
