We are back on the the wet for another kick about on the river, This time we welcome Leeds legend and all round geezer @bobby_odonnell to show us all why he’s been every dj’s favourite dj over the decades.

Bobby O’Donnell is one in a famous line of resident DJs who break out from being a local hero and become underground mainstays. He will always be associated with legendary sets at System and Mint Warehouse in Leeds, but these days he takes his dancefloor-friendly weirdness to clubs all over the place. He’s well-versed in connecting with festival crowds but likes to get down and dirty in smaller sweatboxes where he can tease and please with slick broken beats, futurist synth lines and trippy hooks. He plays with a sense of fun that brings inescapable energy, but also real musical character from spaced-out techno to thumping house.

And it’s the same with his meticulously produced tunes.

Over the last decade-plus, they have subtly evolved to take in deep and dusty house, bouncy techno and crisp electro. Each one starts with tight drum programming and brims with creative sound designs that elevate them way above pure function. They have come on plenty of well-regarded labels, most recently the likes of Burnski’s Pilot and MINDHELMENT both solo and in collaboration with fellow Leeds favourite Reeshy. His label, E-Numbers, has been home to his own work as well as music by 100Hz and Voigtmann and now, after a pandemic-induced hiatus, it is back and firing once again.

Alongside Bobby on the evening will be your trustworthy Hoax residents taking each side of Bobbys headline set in their stride.

As usual when the boat boards it will not dock back up until the party finishes so we can not emphasise enough the importance of arriving at the start.

Had a cracking afternoon back in Leeds, last Thursday, playing for @grooveyardrecords on @mesh.radiolds

It’s easy to forget how much difference a good group of people makes. Everyone involved was welcoming, the residents absolutely know their music, and the whole thing just had a the right feel about it.

Really enjoyed digging through the bag for this one. Thanks for the invite and everyone who locked in for the set and extra shouts to @shockolatte_deluxe for coming with!

Last Summer, we began our residency on Mesh Radio, our goal was to create a platform for upcoming Brands and DJs to showcase their talents, and share the booth with some of the scenes most respected selectors…

A year on, we’re excited to keep building the show, pushing the sound , and continue to push the Leeds grassroots scene forward📈

To Celebrate, we’ve invited MiNT resident and Leeds Legend @bobby_odonnell as our guest for the evening, Bobby has been a mainstay in the Leeds music scene, and has supported some of the worlds biggest DJs at Mint over the years.

Through his DJ tutoring programme, Bobby O’Donnell has helped countless upcoming DJs find their feet and develop their craft. That dedication to supporting the next generation perfectly aligns with what Grooveyard FM is all about, making him a natural fit for the show.

Joining him on support we’ve invited @jamielocke__ , An exciting local DJ with an extensive record collection. Jamie has been making a name for himself recently, having played several sets at MiNT, most notably closing the MiNT Festival Afterparty 🪩

And finally to close the show, Resident @mr_e.___ goes b2b with @charliesibdj for a 3 hour extended set, taking our listeners on a proper dance music marathon 🏃🏻‍♂️

Back in Berlin for the first time in years and buzzing to be making my debut at Club Der Visionaere this Sunday with the Perfumed Sundays crew.
