Learning How to Shape my Voice to Express Emotion

It was a cold December night in 2021, I was parked up in my Van in some random English town, on my way back from a 12 shift somewhere down south.

I sat in the back on my mattress, wrapped in a duvet, holding my guitar... Feeling the Warmth of the Spanish.

I am not fluent in Spanish, but Performing this song is about Mood, Vibe and Feelings.

Throughout my Drama school training I really struggled with Stage fright and anxiety before performances

So much so that I would seize up on stage and forgot my lines

It certainly is not natural to be on stage in front of 100s of people remembering hundreds of lines that were written hundreds of years ago

My first professional Shakespeare job was “a Midsummer nights dream”

I flew to Croatia to learn my lines … it was a lesson with regulating my nervous system and being in peace so I could absorb the sense and meaning

Not just ramming it in, whilst in a grotty east London house surrounded by sirens and noise

Fast forward 11 years

I still know the words today

And that is why regulating your nervous system before you bring your story and content to social media is important

I’m going to be sharing more of my expression through music

I believe singing is the highest form of expression

It is created from within you

I have always resonated with the songs of Eddie Vedder and I’m fascinated by the grunge movement, what it stands for, the lyrics that talk about mental health and addiction.

It’s not just “dad rock”

It’s the full expression and releasing pain through the voice
