“We both work in theatre so we wanted our inspiration to reflect that. We called the theme of our Pinterest board ‘vintage magic show’ because we love the warmth that the style and motif evoked and the colours that surrounded it. We wanted the wedding to be fun and colourful, and tried to add a lot of different textures and shapes to the space, from velvet tablecloths to paper chains to foil stars.”

“Our photographer was Bobby Tsang. We were very drawn to his style of photography and how his work feels natural and lived-in. We wanted our wedding to feel as natural as possible (since we both don’t love posing in front of a camera) and we knew Bobby’s work would be perfect for the day, plus we loved his use of film.
We truly could not recommend Bobby more. He captured the day so beautifully and made us feel so comfortable throughout the celebration.”

A postcard from a wedding. Not all film looks the same - some film stocks look more “film” than others. Only thing I know is that all film will add to the vibe of how you remember your wedding. Film at weddings is simply a must.

Michael and Isobel in Västerås. An Irish Swedish wedding.
The Hasselblad was the natural choice when the wedding is in Sweden.

Shot on #Pro400H and #TriX400 - the two best films.

Imagine having hand printed images from your wedding and not only viewing them on screens.

Well good news! As well as photographing your day - I print too.

This is me developing what’s known as a test strip which is a small area or band from the overall image that allows me to judge how the exposure of the image looks for the settings I’m using. I’ll develop loads of these to test exposure and contrast and so on before deciding what settings are best for printing the final image for you.

This process takes time and can use lots of paper to get right. But the only thing that is certain, the final prints are awesome.

Matt and Nat tied the knot in the very grand ‘council chamber’ at Islington Town Hall. A truly beautiful London Town Hall wedding for this magnificent couple. I’m so privileged that they chose me as their photographer and allowed me to have been part of their Cantonese wedding. by @bobbytsangstudio

Weddings are beautiful, colourful occasions - so why shoot it on black and white film?

Including colour in any photograph should be as purposeful as the composition. Removing colour from a scene focuses the eyes on other important factors in the shot that could otherwise be overshadowed as the eye looks more for shapes and textures.

I’m glad I had KodakTriX loaded for this shot. Though small in comparison - the bride, groom, and the band are clearly highlighted in the scene with the shadows of the backs of the onlookers creating a contrast. All framed by the entrance to the main event.

Film at weddings shouldn’t be an option - it should be a must.

It’s the difference from photographing the moment or timelessly capturing your memories.

Tess and Kayla - 13.08.2026

Philipines and Scotland made proud by these two beautiful brides in this very special East London wedding. All of the venue was decked out with handmade details made by them and their family and friends. I’ve never seen a wedding Ceilidh bring about as much joy as this one.
