The 8 year old kid in me is the reason I open the entire box, every time, pretty much right when it comes through the door…..
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In his rookie year, in the 1997 Playoffs against the Utah Jazz, with the game on the line, multiple times Kobe Bryant air balled a 3 pointer. 4 TIMES!!!

At the end of regulation to win the game? Airball

In overtime, a wide open 3? Airball

Shortly later, pull up from straight away? Airball.

And finally, with his team down 3 and the clock expiring, with a chance to save his teams season?!? ANOTHER AIRBALL!

That night when they got home to LA, he went into the gym and didn’t come out until the sun came up the next morning.

That amount of failure on that stage could have totally derailed a lesser man. Kobe says it was the defining moment of his career.

I made my son watch him talk about it last year after Mini’s first chance at a game winning shot. My son missed the shot.

The misses don’t define us. What we do after we miss matters most.

Picked up my first Mickey Mantle card this year at the National. Well maybe not my first ever……When I was a kid I had the most well worn version of this card you’ve ever seen.

40 years later and it returns to my collection.

Definitely won’t be my last…… by @bobsrippin

To me this is the most iconic basketball card ever made. These two saved the NBA from obscurity and would both end up all time top 10 players in the history of the game.

To have both of them as rookies on the same card will never be matched again. Doesn’t hurt that Magic was my favorite player as a young kid.

Have wanted this card since I was 8 years old. Here’s to another childhood dream checked off. by @bobsrippin

One year before Allen Iverson’s legendary “practice?” rant, Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Mora unleashed his “playoffs?” rant.

It’s my contention that if Mora doesn’t ask “playoffs?”, Iverson doesn’t ask “practice?”

Do yourself a favor and go google it if you haven’t seen it. Legendary stuff from a no BS head coach. You know I had to grab this card on Facebook last week when the last owner posted it for sale. by @bobsrippin

Found a box of 1989 Fleer at the National that had been sealed with a notary seal Feb. 2nd of 1989. I was pretty sure it would have the Billy Ripken F Face card. Was hoping maybe it would have a Randy Johnson Marlboro sign card. No Randy (well there were two but they both had the sign covered).

But we hit a Ripken!!

And a fun side quest was hitting a Griffey in both of the first two packs we opened! by @bobsrippin

Always fun when your kid is going through cards from last year and you find an auto of the Seahawks #1 draft pick that you had no idea you had. As if we needed any more reason to root for the kid!

RIP Rob Base

If you grew up when I did, then you 100% awkwardly danced to the music this man created. Their hit song was the soundtrack for a generation of Jr. High dances.

When that “hit it!” dropped the entire 7th grade hit the dance floor. His lyrics were some of the first I ever memorized.

I’ll be trying to hit the jump over my own foot move all night onto the beanbag in the basement as a tribute!

Had to dig this card out of the archives but you know if they impacted culture in the late 80s there’s a card to memorialize it! by @bobsrippin

The World. Cup is coming to the US and my hometown Seattle so you know we had to pull out the original soccer GOAT.

The only 3 time World Cup champion and the youngest winner ever (he was 17 for his first title in 1958 and had a hat trick in one of those games that year 🤯) by @bobsrippin

22.9 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 8.1 APG 🤯🤯🤯

In his 5th year in the league Jalen Johnson might be the most underrated player in the NBA. He’s gotten better every season (he averaged 2.4 PPG his rookie season)

Almost averaging a triple double in the NBA is absolutely insane and requires an elite multi-faceted game. Need more of his cards in our collection for sure. by @bobsrippin

Sweet 16 time! Can Billy and his band of brothers knock off the #1 seed Arizona Wildcats? I’m a winner either way. Picked AZ to win it all but a big upset tonight bodes well for this card.

I’m a fan of the college cards. Who knows which one of these kids will become the next Steph or MJ or Shaq. But we almost always catch a glimpse of their greatness in college and March Madness is often the backdrop for it. Love this time of year! by @bobsrippin

The winner of arguably the best NBA dunk contest ever held, Zach Lavine could jump out of the gym! A 2 time dunk champion, this kid roamed the halls of the high school my boys will likely attend. Our high school gym is named in his honor.

His athleticism is off the charts! Only about 60 individuals have averaged over 27PPG for a season in the NBA. Zach did it in his first season with the Bulls in 2020-21.

A Bothell High School legend, no doubt. by @bobsrippin
