Now Open: Modernisms: Art from the Manes Collection
Spanning over a century of groundbreaking work, Modernisms brings together artists who shaped the course of twentieth-century art. Featuring pioneers including Picasso and Jasper Johns, the exhibition explores how art both reflects and challenges the cultural and political moments that define it.

Drawn exclusively from the collection of Dr. Harvey Manes, many of these works are promised gifts to the Museum—ensuring their legacy for generations to come.

He painted the same face for years - the long neck, the almond eyes often left blank. Modigliani, it's said, would only paint the eyes once he knew the soul.

Modigliani and His Secrets goes looking for the soul behind the work using X-ray and scientific analysis to read what lies beneath the paint, and the man beneath the legend.

Marcel Duchamp submitted a urinal to an exhibition in 1917 and called it Fountain. René Magritte painted a pipe and wrote underneath it that this is not a pipe.

Conceptual Art puts the idea ahead of the object. Dr. Terryl Lawrence unpacks how that happened and why it still shapes what artists make now.

Modigliani and His Secrets screens Sunday, August 2 at Movies of Delray 🤝 @jffboca

A century after his death, most of what we think we know about Modigliani is myth. This documentary puts twenty-six paintings and three sculptures under scientific analysis to separate the man from the legend.

Born in Livorno into one of Europe’s oldest Sephardic Jewish families. The heritage he carried shaped the work, and it’s the thread this film follows.

The Ivorian artist spent his life cataloging the world on postcard-size cards: cloud formations, scarifications, language, world events. Join Miami-based collectors Javier Martin and Austria Ulloa — founders of the 404 Art Collection, one of the largest holdings of Bouabré’s work in the U.S. — for a conversation on his practice, cultural memory, and why they’ve made it their mission to preserve his vision. Moderated by Dr. Ross Karlan, Curator-at-Large.
