Breastfeeding can be marvellous. One of the really significant phases is around the introduction of solids at around 6 months of age (when baby can sit well for example). Often at this time a mother has to then navigate management of her milk AND baby's solids in order to ensure she does not get any problems with her breasts when baby perhaps drinks less. This may mean expressing if baby does not drink as much as usual and paying attention to her body. Sculpture (New Mourning 1) seen at the MILK exhibition at the welcome museum. Created at the end of Clementine Keith Roach's breastfeeding journey #thewondersofmotherhood #mamababy #breastfeeding #mentalhealth #wellbeing #parentalmentalhealth #holdinginmind #attunement @clementinekeithroach by @bodymindmum

To all the mothers who are working hard to keep their babies asleep and other children happy- I see you. To all the mothers who slept between two babies on their side getting drips of sleep- I see you. To all the mothers who were woken at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep, hence eating coco pops at 5am- I see you. Rest when you can by lying down and utilise support #motherhood #sleepdeprivation #mothers #parenting #baby #forthtrimester by @bodymindmum

Sending light to all parents who had a baby who died. I have met many parents who have sadly had to say goodbye when they were just ready to say hello. Some parents were not even ready because their babies came very early. Finding ones way in the dark or times of many shadows requires some light to guide a path. #babylossawareness #blaw2021 #parenthood #miscarriageawareness #stillborn #neonataldeath #waveoflight by @bodymindmum

What a wealth of reinforcing and educative sessions that @birthbetter made available. I have listened to #debdana polyvagal presentations more than once and each time my thoughts are stimulated and it was very enriching as a Movement Psychotherapist and yoga teacher. I listened to day two last night when my little girl was in bed. Dr Kendall- Tackett's research presentation also stimulated many light bulbs moments. Working in a neonatal unit means I witness and have the blessing of listening to many birth stories. The focus of supporting parents to develop secure attachments ultimately over and above was something I will keep holding in mind as often parents in the NICU hold so many worries about bonding and struggling with separation and breastfeeding. Birth reflection sessions are so important and being mindful of the reflections and considerations of Dr Joash, @mumologist @ohshittwins @drrebeccamoore and @drpunamkrishan ... I will continue thickening birth trauma spaces for women and families. So many areas of learning further stimulated #birthbetter #birthtrauma #maternalmentalhealth #psychotherapy #motherandbaby #parentalmentalhealth #drjoash #improvingoutcomes #whylovematters #thebirthofamother #thebodykeepsthescore #psychotherapyinpractice #nicu #neonatal #specialcare #polyvagal #parenting #londonparents #prematurity #mindfulness #findingyourwaywithyourbaby taken in Kew Gardens by @bodymindmum

@thepsychologymum succinct summary about lockdown and wellbeing. The waves of emotion and psychological adjustments we are facing, hurdling, being surprised by and trying to swim along with in some fashion have been enduring. The waves keep coming. There is heightened threat and arousal which our bodies are trying to navigate. Increased demands with less resources. Allow yourself to feel how you are feeling and give yourself time. Be compassionate and acknowledge all the small things you are managing. Even if they are really little. Sometimes for me days seem similar when they do not have structure so a bit of routine helps where possible. Love, breathe, play, move your body. #mindbodyintegration #mentalhealth #supporteachother #movement #antanatal #perinatal #mother #motherhood #pandemic #psychotherapy by @bodymindmum

It is such a challenging time within an already demanding, stressful year. This perked my mental state on my journey home from the NICU today. I took time to talk to staff and listen to stories. I spent time observing all the babies and taking them in, tuning into their little beings. Take care of yourself and each other (those you are able to be with and sending love to those you cannot be with) #mentalhealth #mindbodyintegration #breathe #motherhood #covid19 #selfcare #practice #innerresources #withinyou #narratives #findingmeaning #holding #imagination #motherbaby by @bodymindmum

Pregnancy. A momentous event and experience of creating life. The female body contains another life. This experience might feel a privilege at times and a burden at other times. The changes are fascinating. Bodies are incredible. As a mother, a woman has the direct responsibility of carrying and 'growing' their baby. The body of the mother changes physically, with a range of hormonal changes and there are many psychological changes in the journey of becoming a mother. There will be changes in the relationship between the mother and father of the baby in all circumstances. Pregnancy is a time of looking forwards and backwards and yet when baby arrives parents are drawn into the present. Babies bring parents into the here and now, they ask you to be present and tune in them fully #mindfulparents #mamababy #becomingaparent #parents #fathers #motherhood #pregnancy #life #thebody by @bodymindmum

It has been such a challenging time. Coronavirus has been increasing anxieties, worries, sending lives on rollercoaster trips to say the least. Nature can be a great tonic, a treat, a literal day brightener. Breathe in the blue skies, sunshine days and autumn colours. #gravitate# #nature #walks #postcovid #kewgardens gardens by @bodymindmum

For all of the little ones who did not survive. For all of the parents who lost a baby. For the parents I have spoken to who had to say goodbye to their baby. For all the parents, grandparents and families who could not say goodbye. For all of the losses. To all of those able to share their experiences and those who cannot. #babyloss #pregnancyloss #blaw2020 #waveoflight #waveoflight2020 by @bodymindmum
