We finally did it. The Human Scrapbooking Experience now has its own website.

What began as a strange experiment involving vintage rubber stamps, custom-formulated blacklight bodypaint, and a few curious humans has rapidly evolved into a new collaborative art form.

Explore galleries from Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Ithaca, learn how it works, and read the story of how Human Scrapbooking came to life.

At least one wonderful thing happened this week in Ithaca…

When I was little I loved playing videogames w my little bro on our N64 — once he started beating me, I moved on to studying MTV & VH1, every day after school. Some things just make sense…can’t wait to swim deeper ~~~🐚🪸🐚

@bodypaintme party was out of this world @argoswarehouse 🫟🌌 Thank you @mattdeifer @a.j.moore_gallery @paintedbypatricia 🎨 and Gwendolyn for your support! Thanks to all my friends that came out to dance & get weird🕺🏽

GASP! ✨😮🌟 Ok NY. That was awesome! Ithaca’s edition of The Thing was unreal. The energy, the crowd, and the art. Everything ignited. It was the biggest one yet, and the room was alive from the first stamp to the last wild dance groove. 🎶🪩✨

The transformation of the venue was for real. Argos lit up in a way that felt like a dream. We had blacklight chandeliers! An altar and a cryptid cuddle couch. People even flew in from Arizona and drove down from Buffalo to be part of it. The DJs pushed the collective dance floor into a full flow state. The Human Scrapbooking Experience keeps evolving into something truly profound. It’s now been fully embraced in three cities across the East Coast. 🌎🌈✨

We’re feeling honored, invigorated, and grateful for everyone who showed up. Thank you, thank you. 💋🥰🤗

Why am I throwing a party in Ithaca? I live 700 miles away and spent the last decade on the West Coast.

TLDR: I was passed the torch in Ithaca and apparently never put it down.

If you want to hear the story, read on. I’m doing it because Ithaca had a massive influence on me. It left an imprint that changed the course of my entire artistic career.

Before Ithaca, my high‑school years were already wild. We were throwing parties, had a real scene, went on tour with Phish, went to legendary festivals, and made art nonstop. I had momentum, but Ithaca was the first place I lived where that energy found a thriving creative community to plug into.

In 2000, at 20 years old, I moved off campus into my first house, the home and studio of TripleX Productions. They were throwing raves all over New York and relocating to NYC. When they left, they passed me the torch. From that house, everything locked in.

I started producing concerts and throwing raves that went until noon, started a festival grounds, painted live on canvases at shows, and even did early bodypainting experiments. I was surrounded by burner collectives from SF and helping birth the See Spot art gallery in the Commons, a place where all of us created together. Ithaca wasn’t just inspiring. It was a collective engine.

Two people connected with me at the center of that world were Gwen and Avi. They were the connectors that made See Spot become a reality instead of a random one‑month exhibition.

Gwen hand painted these beautiful bodypaint signs she set up at those early parties and at See Spot. They sat next to hula‑hoopathon fundraisers, Happiness Parade costumes, and the Odyssey raves across the street. These signs were part of the shared language of the community. This summer we reconnected at the Art Barn at GrassRoots, and she showed them to me again. They’re over twenty five years old, in perfect condition, sitting alongside the original Happiness Parade wardrobe and props. Seeing them felt like opening a time capsule of everything we built together. I picked up one of the biggest jellyfish props and joined the parade. It felt like a breath of fresh air.

And Avi, who was part of that same creative wor taken in Ithaca, New York by @bodypaintme

Human Scrapbooking on a Battleship. The most unlikely combinations sometimes hit the hardest.

After sixteen years of bodypainting across the country and lighting up so many venues in Philly, we finally hit the apex: the most famous battleship in history.

A glowing creature world, dancers going wild, and a crowd that locked into the Human Scrapbooking energy instantly.

We cracked Charlotte wide open this summer with our experience. Philly booked it and everyone said hell yes WE’RE SO DOWN! And now we’re taking that same transformative energy to NY next.

Ithaca on October 3.
Philly is calling our name again.

This Thing is becoming a traveling experience.
Let’s see where it lands next.

Much respect to the crews behind this massive night.
