“You can’t hate yourself into a body you’ll love”

I heard this somewhere & it stuck with me. These last almost two years, I’ve been trying to have a baby & to love my self better.

For the last decade, I’ve hid behind the camera, at least my body. I could see so much beauty in others, but still found it hard at times to see that in myself. To let myself feel pretty in a body that was no longer a size small.

You see, I told myself I wasn’t good enough in all the little ways that mattered. That if I lost enough, if I wore something flattering, if I stood up straight, If I smiled wide, if my hair was shiny, if my skin glowed, then maybe I’d be ENOUGH.

But all the while I didn’t know my body was fighting a whole body metabolic condition that had me struggling HARD for the last 25+ years. PMOS, a name to the condition that I was finally diagnosed with in March this year! I had spent thousands in online & personal trainers for years, many that told me if I didn’t eat too much/the right things and worked out more, I’d be good, I’d drop the lbs I gained in my 30s. But it rarely worked.

We put so much value on numbers, but how do you measure someones worth? What size is your kindness? We hope & pray that are babies are gaining weight; that they are healthy, and even fat! Then we spend most of our lives as women worrying so much about being tiny.

The biggest thing I’ve learned this year is ‘health is wealth.’ Understanding how my body works, finding balance in what’s on my plate, how I move my body, how valuable sleep actually is. How can I create life from a place of love and safety if I’m distressed or disappointed existing in my own body? I can’t. I’m grateful for every version & size of me I’ve got to live, & will keep doing so even now. 🙏🏼❤️

So grateful for my mother who birthed me, my incredible husband, our dear friends (here in Arizona especially) and all the little moments that make my life the most meaningful.
I thank G-d for everything and the privilege of a being a tini bit older 😉🍸

How it’s going VS how it started. 🥹🫶🏼

Can’t believe it’s been 7 years since our first date!

My love, who knew how much we could grow & fall in love through every chapter of us. My mother almost named me Rebecca, and I think about sometimes, since your name means Isaac.
