Billboards marked with a jackrabbit and a mileage number ran along Route 66 across several states, ending at a large HERE IT IS sign. It welcomes travelers to the Jack Rabbit Trading Post, a curio shop in Joseph City, Arizona, that sells souvenirs and travel supplies. Photos of the vintage roadside signs were shared by Merch Motel on Instagram.

The common house spider and most other indoor spiders evolved for conditions inside a home: even warmth, still air, and enough small insects to eat, so putting one outdoors is likely to kill it. Rod Crawford, who runs the spider collection at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, a University of Washington museum, said an animal that never lived outdoors cannot be returned there. Wolf spiders and other hunting spiders do live outside and can be carried out, while web-spinning house spiders are better moved to a basement or another room you rarely use.

The Shibuya Scramble in Tokyo is a pedestrian crossing where traffic stops every two minutes and as many as 3,000 people cross at once, many of them diagonally. Several YouTube channels stream the Shibuya intersection live, filmed from street level and from overhead, and one 360 view is recorded rather than live.

Kindle owners kept library ebook loans open by turning off wifi, which stopped the e-reader from checking books back in. Readers on the Kindle subreddit now report an airplane mode prompt when they open an expired library loan, on the Colorsoft Signature Edition and the Kindle Paperwhite 11th and 12th Gen running software version 5.19.5. Amazon has not commented on the change, and the software update release notes do not mention it.

In 1954, CBS paid Ian Fleming $1,000 to adapt Casino Royale as a live episode of its anthology series Climax! Barry Nelson played a James Bond who was American, went by Jimmy, worked for the Combined Intelligence Agency, and ordered a scotch and water, with Peter Lorre as the villain Le Chiffre. The teleplay was thought lost until a film historian found a kinescope of it in 1981.

A mushroom that grows in China makes people hallucinate dozens or hundreds of tiny figures, 3 to 30 centimeters tall. Colin Domnauer, a doctoral student at the University of Utah, used DNA sequencing to identify the mushroom, and about 90% of people who eat it describe elves or clowns in colorful clothes. The psychedelic compound behind the hallucinations has not been isolated yet.

A lot of businesses in Japan still take only cash, and owners appreciate exact change. A plastic coin holder sorts 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 yen coins into sprung slots, which keeps pocket lint off the money handed over on a shop's payment tray. Its first use comes at the convenience store at Narita airport, buying an onigiri.
