Day 2 of San Diego Comic-Con 2026 ⚡️

Still geeking out.

Today was a little less about the chaos and a little more about slowing down to appreciate the incredible artists and their work.

I finally bought my very first Tamagotchi—something I’d always wanted as a kid but never got. 🥹 I also picked up an Olo cosmetic eyeliner from a brush marker company (who better to make one), a Dandadan shirt, a few gold Hello Kitty dumpling squishies, and a handful of random knick-knacks that somehow found their way into my bag.

Somewhere in between, I got swept up in the whirlwind crowd hoping to catch a glimpse of Guillermo del Toro. The day wrapped up perfectly with the God of War: Laufey panel.

My mind is still buzzing, my thoughts are still floating somewhere between Artist Alley and Midgard, and my inner nerd couldn’t be happier. 💙🎮✨

I honestly don’t know how I survived this trip. Looking back, everything feels like a blur.

I’d been waiting for this visit for so long. I made a promise to myself that whenever my closest friends reached a milestone, I would show up — no matter how busy life got. My best friend was presenting her capstone project in the Philippines, the final piece of her Master’s in Drama Therapy, and there was no world where I would miss it.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, I was in full hustle mode. I onboarded new teachers, added new classes, restocked every studio so there’d be no emergency orders, got all my midday blocks covered across all four studios, wrapped up every loose end, and even made time to finish my blood work and get both my COVID and flu shots right before flying. I really thought I’d done everything right.

But who would’ve known this would become one of the most grueling, testing vacations I’ve ever had? I landed with a stomachache that refused to let up and quickly escalated into a fever so high it felt unreal. Day one: emergency room. Day two: admitted to the hospital.

We still don’t really know what happened. All bacterial, viral, and GI issues were ruled out. The doctors think I may have inhaled or eaten something toxic — just one unlucky moment that threw everything into chaos.

We had to reroute all our plans and ended up spending most of the trip simply resting in Manila. I missed every event I originally came here for… but I didn’t miss being here. And in the end, being with the people I love, supporting my best friend, and keeping the promises that matter — that was still the most important part.

It wasn’t the trip I planned, but it was the one that reminded me why I show up at all. And for that, I wouldn’t trade it. by @bojtrebla
