I taught “A Taste Of Zentangle” yesterday afternoon at the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove. I had one student Debra who never tried Zentangle style art before so it was a fun experience for both of us. This is her tile on a Colourized Squarescape Tile© from my “Escape To Zen Tile Line.”

As a special gift I included a black Sakura Apprentice Pen, three tiles, a pencil and a blending stump in a bag. She was the only one who registered so I thought I could make her happy with some extra gifts for her to take home.

Whether one person or twenty people sign up for my classes, I treat every person with kindness. Being kind is my number one priority when I teach.🥰🎨 by @bolenssurvival

Happy Thanksgiving to my family and friends in Canada!🍁 🇨🇦 by @bolenssurvival

I have been having a wonderful time Sketching with my friend Barb Bradley who I teach twice a week. This is a fun Sketch we did on September 16, 2026 online on Zoom. Barb is a fabulous Artist who jumps into any kind of art with pizazz!

Barb’s Sketch is on the right if you scroll and my Sketch is on the left here. We coloured with Crayola Super Tips Markers. Sometimes we don’t finish the entire sketch but that is okay. by @bolenssurvival

Selling out of Zentangle Inc. products! Shipping in Canada only!🇨🇦❤️

In stock in Alberta, Canada, loads of Zentangle Inc. branded products that I want to sell out of.

The reason is because I rarely use their tiles. I created my own “Escape To Zen” line of Art Tiles so I prefer to use my own.

I will be updating my website to include more Zentangle Inc. branded products but once I sell out, I will not be ordering any more because it is too expensive.

This is just one of three shelves filled to the brim!😃 by @bolenssurvival

My dear friend Barb sketched these lovely Lilies yesterday during our Sketching Yellow Lilies Class I taught her online on Zoom. Barb has a very delicate style in her sketching, which bloomed fully like the large Lily in her sketching! I am so pleased with Barb’s progress and her willingness to learn anything I throw at her.😃🎨 by @bolenssurvival

Prepping for an upcoming Zentangle drawing class called “A Taste Of Zentangle!” I was at the Artist Connection at the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove this morning. Great company, conversation and creativity! My sketchbook was upside down.🤩🎨🇨🇦 by @bolenssurvival

Exciting news! My photo “Snake In The Grass” won Second Place on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove 2026 Open Art Competition in the Digital Art/Photography category! I am very grateful!

This photo was taken with my Panasonic Lumix Camera at Cardiff Park on October 6, 2024. The rules are the entries have to be created no more than two years prior to the year entering the competition. I felt it was time to share this find!

The snake was hiding under a bush. I took a lot of photos of this snake but the perfect shot came into view when the blades of grass framed the snake’s face. Sometimes nature can help me compose the most amazing shots! I feel in moments like this one, watching the snake move into the perfect view that I am so blessed to witness the beauty of nature!

Congrats to all the winners last night!

I am thankful to be able to share my love of nature in photography. Thank you to Lisa who took my photo with my ribbon beside my winning photo. My photo was framed by Richard at Creative Design Framing in Morinville, he frames all my art and photography. by @bolenssurvival

Sketching Chrysanthemums today with my friend Barb Bradley! I taught her how to simplify the composition when Sketching.

I think this will be another tangle stepout in my future! It is so interesting when breaking down lines and shapes into patterns. I love this kind of Sketching!

We Sketched in pencil then went over our pencil lines in black pen. Colouring was done with Derwent Drawing Pencils and Polychromos Coloured Pencils. The buttery soft quality to Derwent Drawing Pencils are so lovely.

We did not finish colouring but I think I really love the half coloured or half done composition. I will most likely colour it all in, we shall see.

I have learned a lot by teaching Barb, she teaches me things too! I Sketch larger than she does but her style is really shining in these Sketching classes! Barb is confident to Sketch in her style using my original Chrysanthemum photo as a guide. We are not going for realistic, we are having fun! I do not teach her to copy what I Sketch, I teach her to Sketch what she sees. by @bolenssurvival
