Part 1: A year of growth. A year where I led, inspired and also lost people. A year where I believed deeply in others, but had to learn to believe in myself too. As the leader of a dance group, I’ve experienced highs that made me proud and lows that made me question everything. I’ve met people who were genuine and kind. And others who drained my energy without ever giving anything back. I’ve learned what real support looks like and what it feels like to be used. Not everyone dances out of passion. Some just want the spotlight. I’ve been disappointed in the places where I gave love. I’ve invested my heart and often received jealousy in return. When your passion becomes your profession, the lines begin to blur. That’s when it becomes even more important to listen to your inner voice, to stay connected to your needs, and protect your energy, because not everyone shares the same intentions you have for them. I’ve worked with people who were deeply unprofessional. Some came in treating it as just a casual hobby and yet started acting like stars, developing attitudes and egos that had nothing to do with the work. But I’ve learned: The more experienced and successful someone truly is, the more humble and grounded they tend to be. It’s often those still chasing success who carry the loudest egos and overestimate themselves the most. I’ve also seen people who present themselves as thoughtful and self-aware, but twist their values to serve their own interests whenever it suits them. People who talk about integrity, but hold themselves to a different standard than everyone else. It’s something I’ve witnessed more often than I’d like to admit: One set of rules for themselves, and a completely different set for others. It’s painful. But it’s also eye-opening. Another hard truth I’ve learned: Gratitude fades quickly for some. The moment you set a boundary, they forget everything you’ve done for them. All the doors you opened, all the ways you supported them, suddenly none of it matters. Dance is my language, my release, my healing. But not everything that shines is light.
