Let's flash back to the official proposal - 10/01/2026

A little backstory:

There had been countless, informal "will you marry me" in the past months, all of which came back with a yes. She didn't expect I would do any elaborate proposal because she had gotten the impression that I really didn't like all that (I value private moments a lot). However, I knew her heart all along so I was working something out behind the scene.

December came and I brought her dad and best friend into the plan. I needed to arrange for her sister to travel for the proposal without arousing suspicion.

Since August ish last year, I had been telling her I wanted us to have more formal dates, dressed up to have fine dining. I needed her to not have any suspicion when it was time to propose and we suddenly had to dress seriously. So between September and December, we had 2 such dates. I asked her to prepare for a more elaborate one in January to celebrate the new year.

January came and I arranged for our first formal date of the year. Bought her a dress. She knew it was serious, suspected a bit, but knowing the previous formal dates, she knocked it off. On the 10th of January, I went out with her to get her makeup and nails done. All the while, she never knew it was a proposal coming up.

The surprise was a build up. First, we both entered into the indoor area, and shortly afterwards one of our friends came in feigning surprise to see us. Asked us to come to the "nice" pool area outside, and when we got there, her shock was palpable seeing everyone gathered. In the midst of that stunning surprise, her sister was unveiled, yet not even that brought tears to her eyes, until suddenly, in the background, she heard the voice of her best friend playing. All along, her best friend had been part of the plan, and she had zero suspicion.

In the presence of our closest friends, I popped again the nuptial prerogative, and the response was affirmative.

And, officially, the planning for #cornerstone26 kicked off.
