Next loyalist legionary for my Istvaan III Kill Team done.
Still absolutely loving this scheme — pushing the worn, battered armour and keeping the whole process fast and rough. Stippling the greens with a drybrush has quickly become my favourite way to build up the armour.

Trying to make every marine feel like he’s already been fighting for hours through the ruins of Istvaan III.

Loyal to the end.

Back from the warp. ⚔️
Vacation time and real life absolutely murdered my hobby time for a while, but we’re finally back at the painting desk — and the hobby mojo is fully restored.

First one up: a Loyalist Son of Horus, still rocking his old Luna Wolves helmet.

Switched up the process on this guy. Instead of my usual sponge work, I stippled the armour with a drybrush — heavily inspired by the ridiculously good work of @plaguenarr. Really liking the extra control and texture it gives the panels while still keeping everything suitably battered and grim.

And most importantly: speed.

From primer to ready-for-weathering in just over an hour. No airbrush, no endless layering. Just stippling, washes and getting paint on the damn miniature.

LUPERCAL? Not this time.

Next Raptors Kill Team member is ready to disappear into the shadows and make questionable life choices behind enemy lines.

Just when I thought I had my hobby projects under control…

A buddy and I decided to give Kill Team a go. So naturally, a Raptors Phobos Strike Team has appeared on the painting desk.

Another project. Another distraction.
But honestly? That’s part of the magic of this hobby. Every half finished army leads to a new idea. Every new idea leads to another project.

And this one comes with a huge bonus: I actually have a gaming partner. A fellow 90s kid who somehow never outgrew tiny plastic soldiers.

Some survived.
That was their first mistake.

The Hunt Master enters the field.
No champions.
No speeches.
Just a squad of seagreen-armoured killers sweeping the ruins for any loyalist signal still flickering in the dark.

The pack is finally complete.

Now comes the fun part:
finding something worth hunting.

⚔️ Loyalist kill team next?”

You won’t see him. One mark. One shot. One less voice in the void. Isstvan III loyalist hunter project almost wrapped. Only the Hunt Master left. The final piece. The one who turns whispers into kill orders.
After that… the pack needs prey.

This one doesn’t talk.
He executes. ☠️ Reaver ready for close work.

Reaver energy. No hesitation. No mercy. 🩸
Get in, tear it apart, move on.
Went for a fast grimdark pass again:
rough highlights first, then toned everything down with weathering pencils as filters.
Running your SoH clean or dragged through the ashes?

When things go bad… you send in the destroyers. No air. No mercy. Pushing contrast hard – weathering pencils as filters. Grimdark finish — 100% acrylic.

Team oils or team acrylics on this one? 👇

Some targets don’t get a second chance.
Seeker operative – Isstvan III hunter pack.
Precision over brutality. Every shot counts.
That sea green is hitting the tone I was after.
Clean, but still carrying the grit.

Some problems call for heavier solutions.
Heavy Bolter operator – Isstvan III hunter pack.
No mercy. No survivors. Only the hunt.

Fast scheme, weathering pencils as filters – finally clicking. Too clean or just right?

Next operator completed.
The Kill Team is built around an Isstvan III Loyalist Hunter concept — deployed into the ruins to track and eliminate survivors. Going full spec ops mode.
