Happy National Esthetician Day 🤍

At 21 years old, I was a MAC makeup artist with a dream of making people feel beautiful. I loved makeup, but deep down, I knew I wanted something more. I wanted to build meaningful connections, help people feel confident in their own skin, and create an experience that made them feel beautiful inside and out.

I just wasn’t sure what that looked like yet.

Fast forward to 27, and I still can’t believe how far I’ve come. Today, I’m a licensed esthetician, professional bridal makeup artist, and the proud owner of Sydney Lin Skin.

But looking back, I think my passion for this industry started long before beauty school.

Growing up, I watched my mom struggle with a severe incurable illness that left her with lifelong facial nerve pain. She would often ask me to sit behind her on the couch and gently massage her face because it brought her comfort and relief.

At the time, I was just a little girl trying to help her mom feel better. I never imagined those moments would become such a meaningful part of the career I chose. 🤍

When I attended Capri for esthetics, I knew I wanted to approach skincare differently. I wanted to help people with their skin concerns, but I also wanted to create a space where they could pause, relax, and feel cared for.

That’s when I discovered GlyMed Plus and their CBD-infused skincare line at Capri Cosmetology with my teacher and mentor, Miss Linda. I was drawn to the idea of combining nourishing skincare with a calming, restorative experience.

Because sometimes a facial is about so much more than your skin.

Sometimes it’s an hour of peace, a chance to release tension, quiet your mind, and feel taken care of.

I know I can’t take away someone’s pain or struggles, but if I can help someone leave my treatment room feeling more relaxed, confident, and cared for, that means everything to me.

To every client who has trusted me, supported my business, booked an appointment, referred a friend, or sat in my makeup chair, thank you. You’ve helped me turn a dream into something I get to live every day.

And to my 21-year-old self, who knew she wanted more but wasn’t sure where to begin…
