Shadow Me Opportunity - Tuesday, Septmebr 29th 12pm to 2/3pm

Due to life, I have had to push off tasks that have now piled up and tomorrow will be a big day.

- tanning raccoons
- dry preservations
- skulls and bone cleaning
- raccoon wall mount prep and more

It may be short notice, but if anyone wants to come watch me at no charge, take notes and learn, I'm located in North London. Let me know. (Not a hands on day)

Okay feeler post!! 👀 You'll Want To Read This!!! 😱

Would anyone be interested in a low-fee vendor market?

I'm thinking about renting a community centre hall and hosting a small market called "The Hidden Gems Market" for people who want to be seen that have limited options to get out there - 15 to 20 vendors, everyone gets a full 10x10 space.

The idea is for the people who DON'T want to pay $250-$400 table fees just to get their name out there. For hobbyists, first-timers, small makers, side-hustle people. If you make stuff on your kitchen table and just want people to see it, this is for you. At this time, no full registered businesses. If you have a store front, employees or main income, this event isn't for you. If you sell on Etsy, IG or a fun side thing, YOU are welcome.

Tables would be around $100-$150 - way under $250.

Any type of vendor welcome besides food. Art, jewelry, crafts, oddities, bones, taxidermy, resin, candles, whatever you make.

One heads up since it's run by me - there WILL be oddities vendors (skulls, specimens, etc) so you might be set up beside something a little unsettling. If you're okay with that, you're welcome.

Just trying to see if there's interest before I book a hall.

If I get enough interest I'll make it happen for April/May 2027

She did it. Full squirrel. Messy, tricky, and she NAILED IT. 🔥

Sam came in saying she's wanted to be a taxidermist for YEARS but never had the opportunity, the space, or someone to actually show her how to do it.

Today she did a full squirrel mount start to finish by herself. And look at it.

This is why I teach these. It's not just a class - it's someone finally getting to do the thing they've wanted to do forever.

I have a feeling we're going to see a lot more of her work.

In class you will skin, flesh & salt your own muskrat. I then tan it for you. You pick it up in 4-7 weeks, fully finished and ready for your wall.

Perfect starter hide if you want to start off small.

I've had a lot of requests for this one - finally doing a beaver skinning day!

$220 per person
Only 3 spots available
10am to 2/3pm - North London, Ontario
No experience needed

In this hands-on class you'll skin your own beaver from start to finish. I'll show you everything. This is messy and uses a lot of arm muscles. Easy way to get a workout in. 😉

You don't take a raw hide home that day - I tan it for you and you get it back in 4-6 weeks fully finished.

You will also get to use my large fleahing beam. 😊

Dry preserved feet
Tanned beaver tail - you take home for crafting or display

First Day at the #worldofcuriositiesexpo
This was a great success.

The number of amazing people we met, connections we've made was all 100% worth it.

My husband and best friend did outstanding today. I'm going to for sure book a spot at the #odditiesandcuriositiesexpo

From wall mounts, soft mounts, beanie baby raccoons, wet speciments, bones and more, all at our booth. What a great day.

Pet preservations are a huge hit! So happy we can bring loved ones back to the owners arms.

Also, directly across from me is McRatterson's Antiques & Oddities. You need to go check her out. 😊 taxidermy ducklings. Super cute!! Riding reptiles! 🤣

Headed to my FIRST convention and I brought my entire studio 😅

Excessive? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely.

From packing the truck to the brim to setting up at the International Centre in Mississauga — wet specimens, squirrels, skulls, raccoon, the whole crew came.

Meeting some of the other vendors today has been the best part already 🖤

Want To Shadow A Taxidermist????

I am looking for a few people who want to shadow me for a day to see what it looks like in the art of taxidermy.

You could learn:
☆ Bone cleaning, skull articulation
☆ Tanning
☆ Skinning
☆ Sewing techniques
☆ Carpet wall mounts
☆ Taxidermy mounts
☆ Pet preservations
☆ Soft Mounts
☆ Business planning
☆ and more.....

This would be more a watch and learn vs hands on attempts (depending what I am working on). So many people have asked about learning things I cant teach in a class,so I am opening the studio to 1 person at a time to explore opportunities.

DM me "Shadow" and we can find a day and time that works for you.

Goes without saying, this is unpaid watching to learn. Hands-on experience would be the apprentiship opportunity I'll have coming in the future.

Dates to be determined by availability. You would be responsible for own food and accommodations should you have longer drives.

12 hours under my belt on this one. By far hardest as I made everything from scratch including the face.

Will be tagging along to oddities convention.

🦴 Video on Bone Cleaning & Whitening 🦴

After a month of various filmings, I finally had enought to get you a Step-by-Step Guide on Bone Cleaning

Few things to note:
☆ Smell is absolutely terrible
☆ Wear PPE (Nitrile Gloves, mask, goggles)
☆ Remove as much meat before you put your item in the water
☆ Simmer water has Dawn - timing varies (2 to 4hrs)
☆ Remove as much meat as you can when it comes out of the crock pot
☆ Again... smells absolutely terrible
☆ Place in water with NO soap for 3 to 8 weeks (smaller animals)
☆50 watt aquarium heater + 5 gallon bucket with lid (don't latch it fully - 90°F
☆ Change every 3 to 4 days, leaving a little of your soup at the bottom (helps keep bacteria growing)
☆Smell is ever worse.... 🤦‍♀️
☆ Once your meat has vanished like magic after about 4 weeks, move to a bucket with Dawn again and let it sit a few more days or weeks (every animal is different) Again with heater
☆ Take out and place in 10% peroxide (everyone uses something different. Small animals, don't leave them alone. Deer or larger, can be hours or days. (Watch them)
☆ Wash them to get the peroxide off
☆ Let them dry on a paper towel
☆ Put them together

Any questions let me know. This is just the method I prefer.

If you have animals with high grease, you can use amonia, but thats a whole different Chapter.
