Hi y’all. I’ve been working on something interesting on late nights & weekends. When my mind is free. Here it is!

It’s called Bonne Foi (good faith). Some of you have seen my hashtags. Infrastructure for access to justice for the underserved. Rooted in Louisiana, the only civil law jurisdiction in the United States, and hopefully built for the Gulf South region (Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama & Florida) first.

92% of low-income Americans with civil legal problems get no help or inadequate help. 99% of attorneys say they want to do pro bono. 90% of tenants in eviction court have no lawyer while 90% of landlords do.

The lawyers are here. The people are here. The bridge between them is not. That is what we are building.

This may seem like a starter issue. I believe it will be one of the defining ones of the years and decades to come. Access to justice will have broader societal implications, especially in underserved regions and communities where our land, sea, and air rights will be tested.

P.S. This starts with access to justice. It won’t end there and will likely extend to land, sea, air, energy & environmental initiatives. The Gulf South and our planet will need this infrastructure. I’d rather we build it now than wish we had later:)

Three principles. One mission.

Bonne Foi. Good Faith. A birthright in Louisiana. We believe it belongs to everyone.

Bon Secours. Good Help. A birth responsibility. The duty to aid.

Bonne Grâce. Good Grace. The grace to treat every human being as though they already belong in the room.

These are hors commerce: outside of commerce, not for sale. They are the principles we are named for. bonnefoi.org

Le Golfe du Sud. Did you know the Gulf South constitutes five states along the Gulf of Mexico: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama & Florida. Louisiana alone has lost close to 2,000 sq miles of coastline since 1930. A football field is about 1.3 acres. One disappears every 100 minutes! Some things cannot be bought back. bonnefoi.org
