She’s the unstoppable Holiday Spirit. He’s a reluctant Hot Santa. Saving Christmas just got complicated.

Pearly Gates has shared countless lives—and holidays—with her soulmate, Thunder. But after he misses their annual holidate and is placed on mandatory leave for burnout, even their timeless romance could use a little Christmas magic.

Then Pearly is sent to the snowy town of Bellhaven, where a grieving high school principal has canceled the beloved holiday musical once directed by his late husband. Disguised as a custodian and drawing on her past-life experience as a drag queen, Pearly rallies his furious daughter and a band of determined theater kids to stage an unauthorized replacement: The Jingle Rebellion, a musical about a mourning Santa who cancels Christmas—and the elves who refuse to surrender their joy.

When the production finds an unlikely home at the local roller rink, Pearly persuades Thunder to don the red suit. Soon they’re surrounded by roller-skating elves, improvised costumes, new romance, queer found family, and a town determined to make the season sparkle.

But putting on a show is easier than fixing the people you love, and Pearly and Thunder may have to stop clinging to their familiar roles if they want to save Christmas—and their own happily-ever-after.|

I had to hone my Pearly Gates elevator pitch for the book fair. What do you think? There's a longer version too that ends with "and then she saves Christmas with her Hot Santa soulmate." ✨️🎄✨️

I've always loved the holiday season. The lights, the magic, the spirit of it all. When I set out to write this story, I wanted to bring Pearly's signature sparkle to some topics we don't usually see in Christmas books. Yes, there are roller-skating elves and unionized gingerbread people and a particularly swoony ice-skating date, but it's also a story about grief, love, acceptance, and finding your way forward when your world has come apart.

To me, holiday cheer is what emerges when we come together to heal, celebrate, and dream the kind of world we want to live into. It asks us to see through the eyes of our inner eight year-old - the one who still believes in magic. ✨️🎄✨️

This is a hopeful story. May it bring laughter and tears and sparkle and joy and a little more ease in this human situation. 💖

Official release date: November 10th. Out now in audiobook narrated by me!) 🎧

Okay, this was a lovely surprise! 🤩

For those who don't know, Publishers Weekly is one of the major trade publications in the book industry, and getting a review from them as an indie author is a pretty big deal. Getting singled out by their editors as one of TWO standout books of the year? Even more so!

So imagine my surprise (and delight!) when this morning the editors of BookLife highlighted Pearly Gates in their annual best-books discussion!

It's not every day that an independently published book gets this kind of recognition, and I'm feeling pretty darn proud of my quirky little metaphysical fantasy right now.

Publishing comes with a lot of challenges and sometimes you just have to celebrate the wins! 💖

Want to read (or listen to) Pearly Gates? All the options are in my bio…

Ahhhhhhhhhhh it's here!!!!!!!! The editorial review of Pearly Gates is featured in today's issue of Publishers Weekly. And they love it! "Fabulous, funny, and sweet as a pumpkin spice latte, this hits the spot."

This is a big deal for a small indie author trying to get exposure for my quirky queer cozy fantasy series, and I hope it will lead to bookstores and libraries seeking it out, as well as individual readers of course!
