I wrote this piece, "GONE EAST" when I first moved to Bali for what I did not know would become the beginning of my rebirth. I have since laced through different lands, tying each tender moment into all that I am buoyantly becoming. Thank you God for the courage to contend with the mundane, and to follow the tugs of my heart into and through these depths.

23kg, the standard weight limit for baggage on Asian airlines. imagine then, the cost of lugging my 60kg through three countries, nine flights, four boat rides, and two buses. suitcases filled with clothes I hardly wore, things I rarely used, books I barely read. the penalties are harsh, you know, for overweight bags, and you’re reminded at every checkpoint that you simply have too much sh*t.

but what is the penalty for carrying a heavy heart across borders? traveling alone for so long, I’d learned to move gracefully with the gravity of mine without letting it pin me down, but I’ve grown weary of that dance. I no longer wish to conjure choreography to combat confusion, or to write sad songs in bedrooms with beautiful views to be soothed. perhaps instead of continuing to accommodate the ache, I should simply surrender the source.

funny how I've been trekking through foreign forests, etching round the edges of the world and still find instagram to be the strangest land. it is uniquely here where I am tasked with translating my transformation since I’ve last shared, and yet there is no way for me to articulate the ways I've taken shape. you will just have to feel me for yourself.

(((AURA))) is the first of a few primers I’ll be sharing to prepare the palate for my official project, dropping soon. these works will be a collection of field notes, forages of found frequencies, excerpts from tear-blotted journal pages, and a strong case for the courage it takes for a woman to navigate from wild west to eternal east and return in one piece.

for this particular visual, I followed a winding path through fresh rice fields in the mountains of North Thailand and found myself at a rushing river under a blooming full moon. these travels never cease to reward my curiosity, every moment feels like a collusion of my set intentions and Spirit’s provision. it is through these out-of-body experiences that I become most aware of myself.
I’m sharing this today, on my Birthday, October 13th, to commemorate my unyielding becoming.
