Today is six months after the sudden passing of our wonderful matriarch Maggie, in my life since I was five, giving my sister & me two further sisters and our dear brother. She was married to my father for 40 years. I sadly never had the fortune of living with them, but was present at the family home during what turned out to be her final week of battling ovarian cancer. Her strength & elegance were remarkable. I shall never forget her radiance, kindness & love in her beautiful big eyes one of the final times I walked into her room. Her moment came during a mesmerising sunrise and on the full moon. We had never seen a sky like it. The amount of love showered was testament to the pure, loving, kind and gregarious soul she was. She spoke fluent French, taught in schools and gifted her friends, was a master of word games, played the piano, a keen skier, golfer and gardener in later years. My sister wrote a beautiful poem, my niece sang, beautiful words were said by my father, sisters & her closest friend, I played the piano. Highly adored far & wide, the village church was full. She will continue to be sorely missed by us all.

According to Confucian philosophy, grief is a period of three years, not something we should just eliminate, but rather something we should appreciate, as enduring it is is a necessary part of the process of becoming a fully thriving person. I feel Maggie´s presence more than ever and am reminded of her favourite song, ‘All you need is love´- Beatles 🫶🏽 taken in Ide Hill by @bonniemer
